On 693 radio on Wednesday night most of the talk was of Melbourne moving to Queensland.

This was because we had; No members

No Money

No training facilities at the moment

Will this happen?

What happened to the Roo’s

Thoughts???????

well seeing that all the presidents today agreed on having an 18 team competition i see this as unlikely

Don't kid yourself that this can't happen. It can and will unless we get our act together very quickly.

Melbourne is the capital of Victoria. Victoria is where Footy was invented. The Melbourne Football Club is the oldest registered Football Club in the world. There will ALWAYS be a Melbourne Football Club.

Saying that, I don't for one minute think that the Melbourne Football Club is not in fear of merging with another club!

- Melbourne Kangaroos???????

- Melbourne Hawks???????

- Melbourne Tigers????????

- Melbourne Bombers??????

- Melbourne Saints???????

- Melbourne Cats????????

- Melbourne Blues????????

- Melbourne Bulldogs???????

- Melbourne Mag - [censored]! I would rather the club fold than be his one!

Geez, I hope none of these ever happens.

Since they now want 18 teams, merging would reduce the number, so it is off the agenda. Also, as they want the team on the Gold Coast to be a real Gold Coast team, based there, that lets us out.

Its nothing more than someone making it up to create news at the moment. Having said that, there is no doubt that if the club continues to wallow down the bottom of the ladder and continues to have the most fickle and underwhelming supporter base in the league, then it is a distinct possibility down the track.

And yes, I am pointing the finger at some particular posters who refuse to renew memberships because of their own self pity.

while we still have a way to go to get our club in the shape we want, we are still a long way off from being forced into relocation...

Won't happen. Although, with this current AFL administration, anything is possible.

dont think its that they want 18 teams. they just want to get teams into sydney and gold coast so they have more exposure. Re-location definiely still possible for someone seeing as they want it done in a hurry....

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
