Cousins and his Woes!

Featured Replies

A sad day for footy in general. He will never learn.... <_< It would be a bit unfair on WCE to sanction them on this one. There is not a lot they can do about a players actions while he is on a break. They just have to clean up the mess unfortunately. Perhaps the only thing they could've done is hired 24hour security  He would most definitely be sacked now. It would be a brave footy club that picked him up if he was to play on. I hope its not us. A caller to SEN today summed it up beautifully by saying that it is little wonder Ben Cousins thinks his bullet proof when the whole crowd on his return give him a standing ovation like his a rock star  Like the caller said "they should be left for players like Rama and Jason McCartney whose problems werent self inflicted".....

It will really hit the fan if this bloke is implicated in the Cousins arrest situation.

WCE will be in very deep.

A sad decline from a masterful footballer. No sympathy from me, even though his close friend Mainwaring did die.

It's being reported that the Eagles will hold an emergency board meeting this evening. There could be some delistings to minimise the possibility of harsh AFL sanctions. They are still up for a heavy penalty, possibly involving at least one draft pick and a monetary fine.

"The Eagles have been put on notice that if they appear before the Commission again they could face a fine, suspension, the loss of draft picks or premiership points."

The WCE were warned and if Cousins has been up to no good it's time for the AFL to act.

Take away their first draft pick at the very least. The Eagles have by their inaction in the past and their tolerance of this all pervading sickness invited action by the AFL. The only question now is whether the Commission and Demetriou have the cahunas to actually do something to this club. They've slapped major santions on us and Carlton for salary cap breaches now let's see if they can walk the walk over the issues that Benny has raised.

My bet is they will do nada.

i would take that to be if he relapsed during competition. i reckon the afl will just deregister him and let west coast get away with it...

they wont take away the pick 3 they got hard earned for judd. if they lose their normal first round pick i wouldnt be unhappy...

it does sound like the WCE are getting ready to close ranks and leave ben out in the cold...

So they should, de-list him, and if not the Afl should take pick 12 or 13 or whatever one they have as well as 18, 3 would be too harsh.

No time for junkies, they deserve what comes to them.

I would have thought WCE would sack him if they had any morals left.

**Meanwhile the AFL buries head deeper in the sand thinking this will all blow over......***

WCE never had any morals. As for COusins, expect the AFL to terminate his contract. He will never touch a sherrin again...only drugs

I understand when he returned to the Eagles this year he agreed to a set of conditions - of which i confidently assume are now breached - and WC will follow through and delist him.

If they don't, the AFL will intervene and force them too.

I think he'll get a year suspension from the game

 No I think it's game set and match. If the outcome is what I think it will be - he'll be sharing showers with Bubba.

What else would you expect from that club?

They rallied around him when they needed him, turned a blind eye to his issues for years, now that they know the AFL is breathing down their neck they will dump him like a piece of meat and pretend he never existed. They will wash their hands clean and say 'we did all we could'.

The sad reality is, that West Coast are as much to blame for Ben's issues as anyone. The mere fact that they let him come back and play after only 28 days in rehab (what is he, Britney Spears? ) because they had a long injury list and a finals campaign to win, is a disgrace in itself.

Cousins has some serious issues, but he is not the only one at that club. I wonder if West Coast will now come down hard on the rest of their squad, or whether they'll continue to turn a blind eye as long as the issues remain in-house and the players are performing.

The person I feel for the most, is poor Josh Kennedy.

Hold on.

Does this mean Yze_Magic was right?

He said he would be delisted this week, last week.

Settle down.

Y_M was championing that we pick Cousins up for 2008 a week or so ago.

Come on, don't deny him the one prediction he might actually have gotten right... maybe he planted the drugs in Cousin's car because he was getting sick of being wrong all the time

His woes?

FALLEN West Coast Eagle star Ben Cousins has arrived in Los Angeles, met by two blonde women and whisked away in a Mercedes-Benz sports car.

From HERE

I wish I had his 'woes'...

His woes?

I wish I had his 'woes'...

He needs to be careful, the drugs have aged his baby face.

And lets not mention the disappointment of finding out that he had Viagra on him a few weeks ago.... those blondes won't be happy :D

Think theres been a disturbing level of schanedfraude directed at Cousins- not having a go at anyone on this site, but from football fans as a whole. He's made some stupid decisions obviously, but if he was an accountant/bricky/ab worker and had the same problems I dont think people would be as quick to make jokes about it.

If he was really on what he was said to be on when he went to rehab, then it's a disgraceful show of negligence on West Coast and the AFL's part to bring him back so quickly. I'm not saying his initial situation was anyones fault but his own, but lets just say West Coast had acted responsibly and said "no, you wont be playing in 2007, get your [censored] together and we'll see you next year". He would have had as much time in rehab as he needed, and could have taken the rest of the year out of Perth afterwards to dissasociate himself from the crowd he was in with. He was stupid to get involved in the first place, but its pretty sickening how he's been used up and spat out.

Its a tragedy of his own making, but its still a tragedy.

Hmmm.... you raise (no pun intended) an interesting point :P

Admit it QueenC, drugs or no drugs, do you know any female who would refuse a night out with him?

That's half his problem, he is completely messed up, but his charms probably get him out of most sticky situations (definitely no pun intended).

Nope.......none that I know!!!

But he strikes you as one of "those" guys, we all have one of those guys in our world (you know the type Jaded good looking, charming, cocky and definitely bad for you) and we find "him" very hard to avoid. They aren't good for you, you know they aren't good for you, but you can't, or won't or don't want to get rid of them :P !!!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
