It was widely reported that Judd's interview was at the G and that Melbourne were clever in not taking him to the Junction oval. Therefore he does not personally know the state of our facilities. His manager might but it is certainly sounding like a rubbish excuse. The real reason may have something to do with millions of dollars.

At first I thought you were just spouting what we'd been discussing all day. But then you came up with this gem and it saved the post. Well Done.

I wonder if Melbourne are still pursuing Judd as the club's official mascot after it was revealed this morning that he is in fact the devil.

Haha.

I don't think I had the devil picked as such a pansy!

thats correct. He wants $. Think of what eddie can bring him. More promotion, more time on the footy show and more player payments. He also wants to be in a team with good chances of sucsess...something i dont think melbourne can do till 2010.

apparantly, its not about the facilities and his manager screwed up but hes not talking at the moment because he is upset about the death of chris manwerring. maybe we should leave him alone until we hear it from his own mouth..however i cant talk, ive been pretty rude about him

I would believe we knocked him back because we simply couldn't afford him

But we knew what he wanted when we met him, but maybe it turned into a bidding war, maybe we weren't prepared to give up what West Coast were asking, maybe it was just the whole package was too expensive.

Considering that we've been looking at possible Judd deals and scenarios for a long time now, and had a committee set up, I doubt it.

We would have known going into this whole thing, that getting Judd would be expensive.

Besides, if that was the truth, why would we not just say that? Why come out with the lamest excuse possible?

m thoughts i posted on bigfooty

think about the 'facts" presented so far.

MFC have issued a statement saying judd rejected the club because of inadequate facilities.

he knew that before he nomited us as a contender.

until it's proven, i cannot believe the club would fabricate the story.

if anything, it was a lame excuse given to the club by judds manager, probably thinking the club wouldn't put those words in an official statement and now coping some blacklash for the excuse and back peddling as quickly as possible.

it was all a charade to cover up the deal collingw#@d has been working on for the past 12 months.

hope the eagles feel like they've been shafted and hit back.

gee, i hope this bites the scum on the arse.

What are you saying. We belted them with half a team in June. We lost to them with 15 players out in round 20 by 11 points when we had no one on the bench after half time. In my opinion with a full list we would kick their arse every time. If they had our injuries they would have been where we were. After they lose more players to fit him in the cap, like Wakelin, Buckley, Burns, Licuria, Holland and maybe even Presti, they will struggle, even with their 18 games on the G each year, in our rigged competition.

Completely agree and Harris's handling of this matter has matched the state of our facilities.

Chris had been somewhat surprised by the quality of our club presentation and strategies, and it was a difficult decision

Ok. So he must have been expecting our presentation and strategies to be [censored]?

If he was expecting that, why was he talking to us? To waste everyone's time? To confirm his expectations?

However the club's training facilities at Junction Oval and the need to train at a variety of grounds over summer was an issue.

So what? Judd had to go through the 'quality of our ... presentation' to come to this conclusion?

we do have this comparative disadvantage

So Judd's decision is the correct one?

While it is very disappointing that Chris will be playing elsewhere next year, the club ought to be quietly satisfied that it had got itself from being a rank "no hope" outsider to being very competitive in the pursuit

Quietly satisfied? That he told us to go forth and multiply FIRST. How is that competitive?

Or did he inform the Dungs at the same time as us yet we were first with the news? If so, out of the four, we finished in the bottom half. Familiar?

Thank God we weren't a 'rank "no hope" outsider'.

ahead of many clubs who failed to even get his attention

Whoopee! They must be spewin'.

This outcome will only sharpen the need for the whole club to work together to ensure we have fully competitive facilities and resources.

Again, Judd's decision is the correct one?

And we know that we have a team very capable of quickly overcoming the 2007 disappointment and getting back into the finals as we were in the three previous years.

Could be the mission statement of this Club since '98. WE MADE THE FINALS.

With a new coach and new football manager, a healthier playing list and with Pick 4 still in our hand, we have plenty of reasons to look forward to the 150th anniversary year in 2008

Only downside is that our facilities render us a 'comparative disadvantage'. Great.

.............................

In short, on the basis of Harris' statement, it appears that either:

1. Judd has involved himself is a sham process and wasted our Clubs time; or

2. We are [censored] and Harris has told us so.

Over reaction by me? Probably. Regardless, either Judd's management or Harris spinning [censored]? Absoutely.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
