CASEY: Practice Match vs Box Hill Hawks

Featured Replies

Who can work out the VFL what a dog's breakfast of a competition. AFL listed players have had 2.2 quarters of preparation before the season starts with our first game in round 2 or sorry round 1 that comes after round 0 which we didn't play in. The only thing that makes sense is our first game is in round 1. Beggars belief!

It is ridiculous considering the Saints AFL will have played a full game of 'real' footy before we play them.

Box Hill kicks a goal seconds before the siren. The Hawks record an 8 point win.

CASEY DEMONS 3.3.21 8.5.53 10.9.69 13.12.90

BOX HILL HAWKS 3.4.22 6.6.42 11.10.76 14.14.98

GOALS

CASEY DEMONS Scapin 3 Bowden Cheffers Hampton SInnema 2 Ah-Mu L Lual

Kudos to Toby SInnema who brought the team back into the game when all seemed lost. He’s lightly built but as he gets stronger and with more experience at this level he will become a very good player.

Thanks Casey sounds like the boys worked their way back into the game getting to within 2 points late in the game and an 8 point loss is pretty good given they haven’t had the opportunity to play together much.

Quite a creditable performance from Casey considering the AFL ‘equity’ department have apparently run their grubby fingers over this one. Casey VFL listed players v the Hawthorn AFL listed inclusions + Box Hill VFL list selections.

Casey’s Gippsland connection looking after your own backyard may well apply.

A poster on the Box Hill Hawks Bigfooty page has put up their team list for today’s game and they had 13 AFL listed players -

Ned Reeves, Calsheer Dear, Brodie Ryan, William McCabe, Aidan Schubert, Cody Anderson, Jack Dalton, Oliver Greeves, Max Ramsden, Matt Hill, Bailey Macdonald, Jamie Uhr-Henry and Henry Hustwaite.

Reeves is a 210cm monster who had a couple of 200cm back ups and they were pitted against 195cm Nate Pipicelli who has yet to play a VFL game. He was assisted from time to time by 18 year old 199cm Tairon Ah Mu who also has yet to play at this level. No assistance from any MFC big men and I didn’t notice Casey’s new ruck signing from the Eastern Ranges. Hence, the Hawks dominated the rucks. They also had a size advantage in the key forward and key defence positions.

That’s the context that you have to view this game and on that basis, Casey did well.

Did anybody notice Guerra, Smith or a bored member there representing our club, no too busy at the track I guess.

What a joke.

That makes it an even more credible effort from our Casey boys, up against 15 Hawk AFL listers.

What a joke.

When you say represent, is that just you wanting them literally standing there witn their hands in their pockets watching a meaningless practise game with no MFC listed players??

Is that really what you're whinging about?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
