Kozzy apparently clear of any possible charge from a Q4 incident involving Noah Answorth from yesterday.

Noble (GCS) and Fonti (GWS) facing 1 week bans.

The Butters appeal currently being heard.

And Butters has been cleared. Or at least the AFL will not rehear the charge now that the original hearing has been overturned.

Bloody good outcome.

What a rubbish case.

Would have set a horrible precedent… no evidence? Guilty!!

Ha so the power won on a technicality.

But hilarious the powers legal councils dog was barking when he tried to submit evidence.

Lets never talk about this case again.

What a balls up by everyone.

Biggest loser out of all this is definitely Sportsbet employee AFL umpire Foot.

Let's hope so.

Umpire mics failing right at the point they’re required? Seems very suspicious to me. But I won’t dwell on it, lest the afl spend a couple mil on improving microphone quality rather than paying full time umpires.

That and the fact that the Tribunal apparently looked at Butters’ record, before deciding whether he was guilty of the offence, are the two legal grounds why the Appeal Hearing will uphold the Appeal.

The AFL will think that is the end of it, except Butters was found guilty of the alleged abuse and was not believed and the Appeal in a way will only determine that the hearing was flawed. Yes legally he will be clear, but he will remember he wasn’t believed on his evidence, even if technical aspects of the hearing result in quashing the penalty.

PS: A third legal point just happened. Before the Appeal can be heard a Tribunal member has spoken to the media.

I am now just waiting for the Tribunal to declare that the members shared a couple of bottles of wine and a slab during the hearing.

As I said.

Fair few mentioning Kozzie will get suspended.

Anyone else not overly worried?

One angle, you could see his face.. he had the biggest “oh [censored]” and appeared to be trying to avoid contact and got tunnelled by Moose who was also falling.

I think he will be fine.

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
