you are kidding ,i dont care what colour your size or where you live why should indigenous players get special treatment you want equal pay behave like a good person

Maybe you should visit Yuendamu and you’ll understand they may be justified in getting ‘special treatment’.

Hmm, for a pointless thread there's certainly enough posts to suggest otherwise.

And Ghost Who Walks' post is atrocious. Why are less and less Indigenous players recently entering into the AFL? Not everyone of them has the same tragic backstory as Jurrah nor will all of them have crippling homesickness. I hope we're not missing out on some amazing talent (and proportionately there seem to be many that are so exciting to watch.)

Plenty of Aboriginal talent in the NT, WA and SA.

Clubs just don't want to make an effort

Ghosty's comment might have been worded poorly but are pretty accurate.

And let's not re write history. Liam walked out on Melbourne against the advice of the community & got himself in serious trouble. He wrote his own story.

He is a grown man & I'm sure he accepts responsibility for his actions.

What part? Can you explain why numbers of indigenous players are dropping over time? I think the clubs are so focused on success I doubt their attitudes have had lesser players on their books (or the reverse.) So what's changed? You think it's a coincidence?

you miss understand ,i grew up in the bush with these boys there was no difference between us othere than skin colour but in the modern day nobody should get special treatment in sport

I have no idea why numbers have dropped. Hopefully its only a glitch.

But they DO get special treatment. They get booed. They get racist comments on social media and quite likely there's a bit of racism at some clubs (even if the Hawthorn accusations turn out to be close to nothing and even if most is subtle.) If players are so connected to their community and local surrounds that they cannot cope living numerous months a year elsewhere such as in inner Melbourne then fine. But if potential indigenous players are getting warned how difficult it is from previous ones surely that's a problem. And honestly I loved that clubs tried to find footballers in the British Isles (hello Stynes and Wight) and have tried to convert guys with a basketball background and then even find Mason Cox in the US. Just as long as the 30th to 34th best youngsters in the country are not missing out on draft spots. Clearly theyre not! If some extra rookie spots end up getting in some future stars whose talent would never have otherwise been realised I can't see how that can be undesirable.

Liam has turned a corner in his personal life and doing well

Have often said we should have a summer comp played in the NT featuring the indigenous teams. Teams could each have a couple of experienced VFL players. Televised. Conference system with play offs etc.

Far more benefit to indigenous youth than playing the occasional game in Alice or Darwin at the expense of an impoverished State government

The NTFL has exactly what you're talking about, plenty of VFL, SANFL and WAFL players in the comp during off season.

Impoverished Gov is a big call lol if you don't have any idea what you're talking about. MFC owe the NTG a lot since it stopped the FC losing money by playing teams like Freoand PA in Melb in front of 10k

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
