West Coast might be the play. Especially if Essendon trade up with them to get pick 2.

Gc F1 & 37 to WC for # 13 & 34. Or just GC F1 for WC pick 13.

WC spread a pick into next year presumably Ess trading up will give them an extra early pick this year..

i prefer draftguru when looking at numbers like this it pairs picks with list spots so it cuts out the [censored] in the 100s

I agree it's better but it's not aligned with list spots, it's just the first 4 rounds.

he does things that dovaston just cannot do. do not see why dovaston is rated at all really. verrrrrry vanilla. LSP could be a great player, or not, but i'd rather have a crack. no doubt he wouldn't be boring!

I dont like going to early on players but i agree with you on dovaston, he is not imo a first round small forward regardless of how weak the draft is .

Love that he has the cahoonas to balk and bounce, then ignore the pass to goal.

That banana while running at the boundary line is almost identical to Tracโ€™s in his Norm Smith performance

It reminds me a bit of the Kozzie draft, where Kozzie was rated way out, and Cody Weightman was rated as the number one small. We all know how that turned out.

I think given the game style we want to play and the dearth of small x factor players we have forward of centre, we should be desperate to take both Dovaston and Pickett.

Getting them both could go a long way to transforming our x factor forward of centre if we rate them both.

Might allow us to play Chandler through the midfield too, @Slartibartfast .

Dovaston JVR Salem

Mihocek Fritta Pickett

Latrelle Pickett may actually become what most people probably thought Kozzie might, a livewire small forward who stays inside our 50, puts pressure on and is good for 25-30 goals a year. That's probably his ceiling, as opposed to what Kozzie actually became, a star who's kicking 35-40 goals despite spending a lot more time in the midfield

This.

King has said we want to kick 100+ points a game. We already recruited a really attacking defender in CJ and a reliable midfielder who was St Kidaโ€™s captain.

You canโ€™t kick 100+ points a game without players who can kick goals.

I will be surprised if we donโ€™t go early on Pickett like we did with his cousin.

On a side note Essendon have the two picks before us, Sheedy started the indigenous round and Michael Long and Gavin Wanganeen were named in their best 25 players of all time but they have gone off the boil in that space that they were leading. Maybe it was that dud Dodro and they have changed philosophy

You canโ€™t pick someone on their surname but the Rioliโ€™s and Pickettโ€™s seem to be the exception. Marlion Pickett was stiff not to win the Norm Smith when he debuted in an AFL grand final. Dusty kicked a goal in the last 5 minutes when Marlion was stuck on the bench. Before that it could have gone either way.

I think it's too early to put a ceiling on a 19 year old.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
