Top podcast gents.

Some great things explained by Binman about Stats.

And great praise for Captain Max.

@Demonland @binman

Only part way in so far but again really insightful comments and review

Especially liked Binman describing AJ as having “intangible Zing”. I agree. It’s that extra effort or second effort or Will to get to the contest or extra bump or block or body contact to bullock through. AJ is not the most skilled or most likely longer term option but drafted to serve a purpose.

Riv has the zing too. He’s a ripper and had the energy and desire to get to the contest. Had a great game !!!

Win, lose or draw, I always love the Pod, but this one had a bit of an ‘edge’. I could feel a glimmer of excitement, that maybe our season isn’t yet dead after all! Not over the top, but just right.

Thanks guys, for all your effort in bringing it to us.

There is new zing in the air and within all our players and most Demonlanders. And why not? Especially when you travel that far to knock off the reigning premiers. And to see so many players lift in form and stick up for their teammates was great.

The last point, I think is truly a zingful sign, if you will, of a winning team and culture. Been absent for too long. Without going overboard and giving silly penalties, it's very important for mine.

Long may it ring, so we can all sing that great thing " It's a grand old flag" more often.

Wasn't sure where to post this but do you still sell merchandise. In particular the caps?

Thanks.

Couldn't find any links.

My old ones getting a bit tatty and probably losing it's luk. Although my lucky undergarment still work.

But I probably should wash them. But that may Jynx them. Can't hold out much longer under threat of divorce.

Unfortunately not. Sales weren’t strong enough, and even though everything was made to order and I didn’t hold any stock, simply maintaining the store was costing me so I decided to close it down.

Just got to work. Listened to the 2nd half of the pod. Entertaining and informative, and passionate.

  • great discussion about Daniel “Disco” Turner. He’s a ripper. Binman was right about him being the player to watch this year as a breakout player.

  • I agree that youngsters like Langford and Lindsay are having their game time managed. That’s smart. Definitely both are going to have huge futures ahead

  • @binman . Thanks for adding in the metres gained, it’s a good stat to measure effectiveness. Rivers with 563 metres was excellent, and he had definite impact, especially considering he only had 66% time on ground (which amazed me).

Go Dees

An apology to the fitness staff? That had my ribs tickled.

We've bombed out in nearly every last quarter this year and the first time we put a decent one together we should hand out participation ribbons?

Thought it was sensational the way we ran out the game but the sensationalist stuff week to week could use a rest. It's like apologising to the guy that bludges in his job 4 days a week but then on Friday does some of his best work.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
