It’s the final session of the year before the Christmas/New Year Break and I’m at Gosch’s to bring you my observations.

Thank you to all of our incredible Demonland Trackwatchers. There are too many of you to name but you know who you are and your contributions are very much appreciated by all and sundry.

Lever doing his own thing.

I wonder if there’s a link between Goodwin confirming Petty will start in defence round 1 and Lever’s rehab?

He is back in the main group now for warmups. Will keep an eye out to see if he does all the session in that group or goes back to rehab for the contact stuff.

Thanks for you comments.

I would like to know about Melky’s problem if possible.

Melk and Fullarton are doing short rehab drill movements.

Soargo and Taj on long runs.

Disco doing straight line sprints at a good clip, doesn’t look too restricted

Half the boys doing a drill utilizing the stationary metal men (don’t know what they’re called) where they receive the ball and have to weave through two of them and then have one of the assistant coaches apply closing pressure while they snap for goal. They then keep running towards goal where they receive a ground ball and have to baulk another stationary metal man and snap for goal again.

Both Lever and Lindsay not participating in the sprints.

Are we training alphabetically now?

Full ground cone to cone drill now but the design is half back handball receiver in the corridor followed by a long diagonal switch to a fat side wing runner.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
