MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2025

I just bought a digital membership for the kayo sub and couldn't see a running tally for 2026, anyone have any idea how we're tracking?

From what I can tell mfc website doesn't show the figures. A call to the club will probably obtain the latest. @george_on_the_outer might oblige.

The lack of update doesn't mean info is being hidden; just they are slow to update.

Nothing to report here. It seems that no club has any membership numbers displayed on their website.

Pity, since we always had some numbers, however flimsy, by December each year.

Taken from BigFooty. St Kilda's numbers 😲

Update.

Collingwood = 80,000 (Craig McRae posted a video to members confirming the figure)
Carlton = 72,187
St Kilda = 62,000 (as of Nov 27 2025)
Essendon = 54,417
Port Adelaide = 54,103
Fremantle = 45,807
Western Bulldogs = 40,451
North Melbourne = 36,223

But but but everyone at the club said we wouldn’t become complacent?😠

This is on everyone at the club. The board for letting it get to the situation it has, the CEO for terrible mismanagement, the coaches for overseeing a horrible game plan and the players for putting up such a pathetic display. Heck even supporters who jump off after a year or 2 of poor results.

We are a weak organisation, no 2 ways about it. However give me 40k of rusted on loyal members over 80k bandwagoners every day of the week.

St Kilda sold 2026 memberships for $7 in August last year, entitling them to 3 Home games. Not a bad deal but it distorts the numbers. They hope those members buy a full membership in 2027.

The Saints have a 'fancy' very cheap deal nearly every year so they have high numbers. They can't afford not to; the optics of a massive drop in membership would not sit well.

They have a pretty good deal of 4-games with reserved seat for $172 without a GFG. I'd probably still buy my Redlegs membership but some mfc fans who can't get to many games would find that offer very attractive.

Their season GA reserved seat membership also doesn't have a GFG embedded in it.

Unfortunately, all MFC reserved seat memberships have a GFG attached. Nice income for the club but it would put a lot of people off buying a membership especially in the current economic and club performance environment.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

    The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

    The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

    As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

    One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
