Honestly, I am a terrible person to come to for AFL stats.

Hopefully Moniz-Wakefield and Brownie Jnr will get their chance to shine but both offer a different role to Spargs, they both have pace and determination whereas Spargs has footy IQ and elite disposal traits.

AMW and Pup will both develop greater smarts with time.  They do have pace, but disposal is questionable. Good kicking skills are difficult to develop once you are already in the system.

The comment about not hitting the scoreboard enough is a bit erroneous in the modern game for mine.  Every team has a spread of goal kickers, just because you are listed on the HFF or FP it doesn't mean you will kick goals.

Agree D Rev score involvements are a more accurate measure of a forwards output.

I wouldn't have Chandler in the side either. Does not IMPACT on the scoreboard anywhere near enough, IMV, I would prefer to try Moniz-Wakefield, or Brown Dog Junior!

Go easy- Chin goes all right.

Makes good space, good strong mark above his head, takles hard, good at sneaking a goal here and there and I would have as one of our most solid and reliable set shots at goal from anywhere up to around 50m out.

I'm partially guessing, but I would have said more 2021 / 22.  His 2023 was a bit below his par and he ended up being dropped and playing Casey for a fair portion of the season if I recall correctly.

Correct, his deficiencies were laid bare, look ..handy at times but now with achillies issues, will be too slow!

He's going to have to fight Chandler to get his role as pressure act hff back.

Hopefully the coaches make that role a touch more on the offensive side going forward.

Would love to see Tholstrup get some more time there.

Hnmm yeah valid pionts BUT an extra goal or thrice would change my opinion, ya gotta understand I played in an era where I was measured on scoreboard IMPACT

In the scheme of our season, Kade has pulled his weight in terms of scoreboard impact:

MFC total goal kickers 2024
1 Fritsch 41
2 Pickett 36
3 Van Rooyen 30
4 Chandler 18
5 Turner 17
6 Petracca 14
7 Gawn 11
8 Viney 10
9 Petty 9
9 Neal-Bullen 9
9 Langdon 9
10 Windsor 8

I'd love to players kicking big bags every week too, and an extra goal or thrice would be nice, but that's not footy in the 2020s.  Play a role and everyone gets their lick of the icecream at some point - that's how the modern cleche goes yeah?  Kade got his share of licks this year and I've seen him continue to improve and build his game year on year - maybe some more thricing in 2025 will come.  I reckon that Disco Turner will have some funky moves next season too 😉.

Kade was 8th in the B&F - doing something right?

Unbelievable really, says a lot about the season!

ANB leaves a big hole (3rd in the B&F) - I hope Kade can step into that role. He has the work ethic to pull it off.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
