come out Bruce baggers wherever you are ?

wow, so one good game that still contained the same elements for what he has been criticized for is supposed to make those who question bruce do an about face? i admit it was a good game, and needless to say i'm happy that he played well. but i saw none of the same courage displayed by green, or attack offered by bell or leadership offered by neitz and mclean. his kicking was still iffy as was his decision making, and he certainly didn't increase his hardness at the ball.

good on him for playing well, but don't go on some outrageous assault on people who doubt bruce because of one good game that does not dispell the doubts placed upon him.

So any Bruce baggers still want to sink the boots in? I wish the detractors could tell me what the difference between yeterdays performance and work he has done all year?

He was and has been very good, sure he doesn't always hit targets by foot but watch the second quarter again when it counted.

He was BOG in my opinion - Green was great but did collect many possesions as the loose man.

So hit us with your comments of trading etc.

Great as usual

Has any club traded a Best and Fairest winner the following year, I strongly doubt it. Because the way he is playing if he continues he is a shoe in for the B & F.

What player doesnt do clangers ? Besides Judd.

no thinking needed with tht decision mate

I know, I just thought it was funny how you stated the obvious

;)

And how do you know he won't request a trade? If he requests a trade they have no choice.

Oh and I'd trade anyone on our list for Judd except Brocky.

Have any premiership captains ever been traded or asked to be traded? i think not, i may be wrong but seriously i;d doubt it. He is holding out for more cash for the Eagles pure and simple. And they;ll give it to him too because when cousins comes back they have an excellent case for dropping cousins salary. Oh yeah Kerr may be in prison next year too cause he is a tool so maybe even more cash for judd

Ronald Dale Barassi

did not realise that thanks 45hotgod.

Pretty sure Wayne Carey was too :wacko:

Neitz, McLean, Rivers probably the only untradeables on Melbourne's list. Probably some of the other young guys too (Jones, Bate, Dunn, Pettard, Frawley, etc) because you're not likely to get full value for them. If you're serious about trading at the top end or get a ridiculously good offer you've got to consider it.

i meant immediately after a g/f win or within a couple of years, Carey obviously was a different set of circumstances. "Little Carey" wasn't a team player. I should have been a bit more specific sorry

ONE good game this season? Very funny! Have you been overseas? Bruce always plays well. Have a look at his stats for ALL games. He's a GREAT player whether you choose to admit it or not. You don't have to be a thug to be an elite footballer. You seem fixed on the idea that every player must be HARD at the ball. A good team has a combination of both inside and outside players.

I think you need to stop giving so much credit to journalists and media commentators.

After all, weren't they the ones who wrote we should trade Bruce just 24 hours before the game? weren't they the ones calling our club '[censored] weak' before the opening bounce? weren't they the ones who didn't actually know who Daniel Bell was until the game was over (and failed to give him votes!!!)?

Bruce's kicking is on the wrong side of ordinary, his decision making is about the same. That is not to say that he is not a great player, and a consistent one at that. But to say you wouldn't trade him for a Brownlow winner, B&F winner and premiership captain who is also 5 years his junior, is madness.

Also, you have no idea whether he is or isn't coming to Victoria. Your guess is as good as mine.

No they werent the ones- there was one tool namely Robert Walls who said that but he was forced to eat humble pie and give him best on ground. Well I actually listened to every station give the votes that called the game and Bell was in every one of them so get ur facts straight Jaded.

Bruce is all Melbourne to trade him would be a bloody disgrace to the supporters calling for it and for the club doing it.

Bruce is just a good honest player nothing more. Trav gets the heavy tag each week because when Trav gets the ball he hurts the oppostion, Bruce's disposal is poor and IMO other teams let him run free because with most of his possesions he doesn't hurt you and will turn the ball over regularly. Bruce runs hard and reads the footy well, just wish he had relaible disposal and he would jump into the level above just being a good player.

Watch the second quarter....

bruce could have kicked 2 of 8 goals.... but instead goal assist to davey....

and he had atleast 1-2 other goal assists ... and was involved in atleast 4-8 of those second quarter goals....

im prettty sure if neitzs didnt do a crappy snap when he had plenty of time... he coulda had another goal asssist....

he had somthin like 3 or 4 clearances but about 9 first possesisons .... now first possesions arent clearances but i would classify them as clearance assists :P

now if thats not hurting the opposition i dont know wat is?

Tell my the last time the opposition placed a heavy tag on Bruce. Thats one quarter out of 40 this season, he needs to do that every week or at least every couple.

u wouldnt notice a tag on bruce...

he has one of the best aerobic capacitys in the afl....

the only fact here is .... u cant give me facts and i can give them to u....

soo unless u come up with somthin im not with u

What facts that he has had one good quarter out of 40, jez he must be a superstar then. Taggers are taggers because they have limited skill but high aerobic capacity, look at ours Godfrey, most teams have one and most of the time they go to Trav or Davey. Don't get me wrong as I said Bruce is a good player he just isn't a star or great player.

FAR OUT... one good quarter!, i love ur hyperbole! awesome...

he leads us is disposals.... now im not going to say THIS automatically gets him our best player, but it does go close....

he plays defense , centre and foward... he can kick goals ... he tackles and chases... he leads up the ground ALOT, watch the sydney game and a few others from this year... he is the only player when we were down that lead up the field and presented....

As for this tagger crap..little relevance who cares if davey ??? or johnstone get a tagger... good for us.. id take that... bruce IMO is the best player in our team...

according to u a player that doesnt get tagged ?

can not be a star then ?

u might not think so...and u have little facts to give me that suggest otherwise...

The tag shows the level of respect the opposition has for you, it shows that they believe if the can stop that certain player it will best help them to win. Bruce is a hardworker, but lacks the polish of the top midfielders in the comp.

opinion...plenty

facts none

when bruce wins club best and fairest this year we will see the truth.

I never bagged out Bruce as he is one of the most important players in our team and our classiest player however i did say he was overated by Demon supporters. I stand by this

I said it before and will say it again there are times when Bruce can be harder at the ball and lay more tackels but he is a bit soft..

Also when Melbourne haven't been going to well Brucey can generally been seen gathering cheap possesions out on the wings.

ill say it again a quality player very important to us but could be harder... Therfor he isnt this absolute champion that alot of people seem to think!!!

When will people realise that Bate is basically in our top 5 players along with Chook, Neitz, Bruce and Rivers.

WAT u need to realise bate and chook have done jack [censored] in their short time in the game....

if anyone is overrated at the club it is BOTH players u have mentioned! Brock has played great at times.... but he has been injury plagued and has only played 50! games.

i do not dislike either of these 2 players but by saying bate is in our top 5 shows how much u have overrated him as a player.

Cheap possesions ey.... if the possesions are soo cheap why doesnt the opposition do somthin about it..... ?

Bruce was third best behind Green and Bell. Regardless, he is an amazing player and incredibly fit.

But damn it all I would give Bruce and Y_M's right nut for Judd.

Anyone who wouldnt give up one our our middle age/older players for Judd is the exact reason we will protract our mediocraty and wont win a flag in the near term.

Ideally I would keep bruce and green, but should the option come, you know deep in your heart if Judd or Pavlich were on the trade table, there would be very few players not considered as bait.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
