come out Bruce baggers wherever you are ?

So any Bruce baggers still want to sink the boots in? I wish the detractors could tell me what the difference between yeterdays performance and work he has done all year?

He was and has been very good, sure he doesn't always hit targets by foot but watch the second quarter again when it counted.

He was BOG in my opinion - Green was great but did collect many possesions as the loose man.

So hit us with your comments of trading etc.

I have never been a Bruce bagger.

I don't believe though he should be our next captain. I would rather see Brock with that role.

It is clear from the last 2 weeks that he benefits from having hard inside midfielders like Brock and N.Jones in the team to complement his game.

And, i don't believe he was BOG yesterday. I would've had Green and Bell ahead of him.

You asked /shrug

I'd trade him for Judd any day of the week.

Yeah great idea NOT! He was behind Green yesterday but awesome all round. I think he should be the next captain I think Brock will be eventually but 50 games is not enough to be captain especially when he is as injury ridden as he has been. I would NEVER trade Bruce for Judd he is our star week in week out

Bruce is playing good footy

His trade value would be prertty high, so I hope he dominates for the whole season so we can get as much for him in trade week as possible

I've been a 'don't trade Bruce n Green' bandwagon for a long time for the pure fact that they'll never fetch the price they're worth. However if the Weagles lost Judd n wanted Bruce in return, he'll be long gone.

Judd's a star week in week out FULLSTOP.

Not coming? How do you know? And why ISN'T he coming?

You may well be right, but not because you know anything the rest of us don't. IF Judd comes up for trade... we SHOULD move heaven and earth to snare him. Judd is a better player and is younger than Bruce. The question isn't would you trade Bruce for Judd.... that would never happen... the question is Bruce and what pick would you trade for Judd.

Bruce is a good player. So is Green. They pop up every so often and have GREAT days. No-one has ever questioned the fact that they CAN play. The question is, why do they still fail as often as they do? Why does Cam's kicking fail (even yesterday a couple of times... bone spurs?), why does Green drift in and out of games? Why does he play one of the best games of his career one week, when the week before he is smashed?

Look to the likes of Brock and Jones, people. They are coming to the fore. We all know about Brock, but Nate is startiing to exceed my expectations. I think we may have something special there.

I do not see the point of discussing Judd when its only the smallest chance of him leaving. Its like Richmond talking about winning the premiership load of rubbish. Bull Camerons kicking was crap why did he get best on ground by every person calling the game?? What a load of rubbish. Judd will not win us a premiership so I dont see the point

I only mentioned the J word because the creator if this thread specifically asked a question about trading Bruce, Judd is one of several players I'd give Bruce up for so it was worthy imho.

judd is a great player no doubt about it. But i have followed Bruce's career from his first game in the red and blue. He is a sensational player and dare i say it can be a match winner. I wish we had two of him at the moment , one in midfield and one as small forward. Waiting for a full strength list so he can push forward more and bag a few more deserved goals. same with green. They have done an admirable job pushing back to help the backs so far but they seem to be more forward thrusting players. With Rivers and Whelan back we will be a force once more. I'd hate to trade such quality players because of a terrible injury run and lets face it if we had a full list from round 1 we would most likely be 6-4 maybe even better. If Bruce or Green were traded I'd be severely [censored] off.

It is clear from the last 2 weeks that he benefits from having hard inside midfielders like Brock and N.Jones in the team to complement his game.

Agree Brucey has been terrific and people should get off his case. Thought votes yesterday were Green 3, Bruce 2 and Bell 1.

daveys game seems to be overlooked a bit but i thought his efforts were also magnificent. He played all over the ground and chased hard all day. his 1 percenters were terrific. jone brocky and bell are hrad nuts and carroll was sensational.

wow...

bruce failing us.... hmmmmm

let me think ... one game this year i would say well below par....

let me see he leads us in disposals, handballs n kicks. 3rd in marks and 4th in tackles....

far out he is really letting us down every week by the looks of it...

wat more surprising last season he was probably in the top 3 of every stat at the club...

Cams kicking my fail him somtime....

but alot of people call him selfish and say he doesnt play for the team... welll i ask u to watch the second quarter again from yesterday.

also bruce was taken wat number in the draft... DAPPA dan?

and where was brock taken.... we all had little expectations of bruce.... and was has he done.... he deserves more credit than he gets....

im a melbourne supporter thru and thru.... but u know wat.... i would think twice... if we were to trade bruce....

Bull Camerons kicking was crap why did he get best on ground by every person calling the game??

I think you need to stop giving so much credit to journalists and media commentators.

After all, weren't they the ones who wrote we should trade Bruce just 24 hours before the game? weren't they the ones calling our club '[censored] weak' before the opening bounce? weren't they the ones who didn't actually know who Daniel Bell was until the game was over (and failed to give him votes!!!)?

Bruce's kicking is on the wrong side of ordinary, his decision making is about the same. That is not to say that he is not a great player, and a consistent one at that. But to say you wouldn't trade him for a Brownlow winner, B&F winner and premiership captain who is also 5 years his junior, is madness.

Also, you have no idea whether he is or isn't coming to Victoria. Your guess is as good as mine.

id trade bruce in a heart beat for judd, i have his number on my jumper and think he is a great player but judd is the best. period!

and to some one who said judd wont win us a flag, he would get us closer than bruce ever will

I'd trade him for Judd any day of the week.

I'll raise you! Two bruces, a green & a white For a fit 'n' healthy Judd.

id trade bruce in a heart beat for judd,

Ya think?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
