I know mate it’s sad but that’s a battle we can’t win and fighting our own feels the antithesis of what we’re trying to achieve, it’s a lost cause I’m afraid but media is largely to blame there too cus ppl just eat up their g garbage even though it’s proven wrong time after time and with a little research most of wha they report can be undermined in a heartbeat.

It’s why I stopped posting rumours, scuttlebutt heard from grapevine via agents mostly — I knew it was largely just talk and leading nowhere in 99% of instances but I knew I’d wanna know so I shared bits that came thru more than once. I mean back in the day no one here or anywhere in footy fan land would blv how many players deals etc get spoken about & that 1% get actioned, now that’s more widely known as media report anything as FACT inc those off-cuff conversations that go nowhere — lead by info from player agents and ppl at clubs reporting on OTHER clubs happenings to serve their own purpose. I used to cop copious accounts I was making things up for fun even though I’d preface it was pure spec and little chance of happening — NOW though media does same but reports it as likely, as they build the narrative to gain ascendancy and therefore help enable a guiding coalition towards their own report ergo McClure and the constant BS about MORE, or the Kos talk that Edmund admits openly comes only from reports via his ‘fam’ and friends — I mean how irresponsible is that?!?! If I lived interstate I’d tell my family I wanna come home too, that’s just what you DO — but it doesn’t signal his intent or reality whatsoever..

This Oliver story was coming WEEKS ago, the same old journos couldn’t help but give it away, and then they dare say it’s A when it reality is B — It’s all to try and get their own stories validity, they’d LOVE it to come out true so they do all they can to aid that outcome. Inc taking skewed info from agents and report it as being FACT when they know it’s often spin and that they’re being used as a vessel for a certain narrative! It’s pathetic and I’m enjoying calling them on it on socials and talkback when I can but I need accomplices..

Mcclure it is important to state, is a different level of beast, he just seems to flat-out lie at times if it means he can ignite something he is quoted by thousands on X etc

Morris/Edmund whilst not innocent, tend to be more about hiding that the vast amt of their 'insider info' comes from ppl with ulterior motive and that by reporting everything, they are creating a false economy that winds-up being largely good at nothing other than fraying their relationships with clubs, but they do not care cus they feel so powerful that clubs have to talk to them and crucially, they KNOW that the same club will want to use Them  at some point to help THEM put a narrative out that supports something their trying to do -- but why MFC are currently the target for me is because we currently have assets and again, most importantly as Sam Mcclure said himself, read below quote form just a month ago..

"Well this is what we do, we look for a club that has a strong list or that has performed well for a sustained period, who underperforms - and then we look for the cracks' -- THERE is precisely what is occurring as we speak... This is what their bosses want, Hutchy especially!

Anyone who hasn’t heard this listen NOW — well done Dan, as usual CORN used bullying tactics and LIES to shoot down a valid argument — I’ll be going HARD at this [censored] next week and I’ll be ready for the bully antics I’ve dealt with many throughout my schooling and career so let’s go Kane you putrid excuse for a human.. of course we are not happy but we’re staunch and aren’t gonna swallow the media lies anymore, champ!

Houston is DYING to get out does it ending contracted, as are many more — Clarry hasn’t asked for a trade and Trac didn’t either but that’s what the mainstream media lead by SEN Are about — fake news and player agent alignment likely with kickbacks as shocking as that sounds! Something sure stinks — we did some diligence and caught Connor sports in their lies and said enough, end of!!!

Haha, that's brilliant 👏 funny thing is, not the first or last time you or I will hear this 🤣 my mum certainly kept me honest growing up!

Haven't been there, not part of my woods but if I'm ever down there, for sure will visit. I'm not sure where my wife gets Polish stuff for me, but somewhere there's a few stores in the western suburbs. Pierogi, and poppy and cheese cake is the best! I ate my weights worth, mostly pierogi, in Poland when I went there in June/July this year 😁

We wouldn't be in the media so often if we didn't give the parasites so much to feed on.

That’s not remotely true. Our club barely leaked anything 22-23 and yet we were smashed in the media, particularly Michael Warner in the Herald Sun, every week on the word of two disgruntled ex employees one of whom last worked for the club in Goodwin’s first year on the basis of scurrilous rumours that have never been proven and have been strenuously denied.

The same story was then run by the media for a month this year despite it being more than 6 years old and despite the Dr who was providing the story immediately backing away from it as soon as the focus moved away from it being an MFC issue to a broader AFL policy issue.
There has been a clear campaign from the AFL media against three individuals at our club and the club more generally since 2022 and it has escalated lately mainly as our on-field performance has dropped, a few players have been unhappy and they were able to get one of the three, in Kate Roffey.

Compare our coverage to that of Collingwood, they also had a HUGE drop off in form, players who want to leave and a huge scandal involving their CEO going on who was stood down and who has had serious situations involving misogyny under his watch for three years now. Or Geelong’s story with Stengle this year to the treatment of Clarry the year before. Crickets. The media is after MFC disproportionately to everyone else. Fact.

This thread and the other one on the trade board about fighting back through adversity are two of the most pointless threads on here at the moment. What is the endgame with these?

Most people here don't want rhetoric, they want responsibility from the club.

Best to ignore the media, the only way to shut them up is to win games.  Personally, they don't bother me as I don't respect the media.  It's like water off a ducks back

But I did notice that we were the media darlings when we won the flag.  They were all over us

But as we've discovered, if you don't win when you are seemingly expected to win, we went from media darlings to a vulture feeding frenzy

We probably should have seen it coming but a flagless 57 years keeps you out of the loop.  Irrelevant to relevant has a price

And we're well and truly in the loop right now.  Welcome to success/failure!

So, we need to get fit and healthy again and then start winning

And we've done it before but in the last 2 years a mass of injuries has intervened (midfield in '24 & forward line in '23)

Not an excuse, sound reasoning

e.g. Merrijig to Mt Buller is about a 5 hour, 30k walk.  If you're young, fit and healthy, you should be able to complete the walk without too much fuss

But if you tear a calf muscle off the bone, the day before the walk, you won't be able to do it

Not an excuse, sound reasoning

Just got to get it done and win just like we did in '21

@Tolstoys Nudge

Just changing tack a bit in terms of the winning and the losing (forget the media for now) ...

Things are a lot different these days with regards to our fighting qualities.  We may well have run out of quality forwards in '23 and quality midfielders in '24 but we can't be accused of giving up In either of those years.  Nor in '22 and definitely not in '21

In the last 4 years, I could count on one hand the amount of times our heads dropped.  And it wouldn't be 5 times

But take a trip back in the wayback machine to say 2013, 2012, 2009, 2008 etc etc and we'll remember a stack of times when it looked like we gave up

But not these days! When we lose it's often when we're well matched or we're running low on talent

We are in games on a constant basis.  We definitely need to tweak our game plan in order to become more efficient with regards to scoring and I see that as our major issue

The list is still in very good shape (if all the players are fit and firing and in the right headspace)

The only way to shut up the detractors is to win.  And winning isn't easy.  It's hard work, but we've got the talent & coaching to overcome adversity and win

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
