Its true our depth is poor. Shame we lost Bedford and Jordon, amongst others. Funny how those guys are flourishing at new clubs under different systems.

Opportunity

When they were at the MFC, we didn't have room for them

Shiiiittt happens

He just dropped 2 players who won't go near a contest (JVR & Fritsch) ... expect more of the same but the cupboard is bare

Casey is full of NQR's who are not AFL standard

We need a lot of new players

JVR is soft.

JVR and Fritsch won’t go near a contest.

Anyone else agree with this?

A lot of the guys you're campaigning against are the ones that were keeping them out of the side.

We'd be a lot better off with one of them playing Sparrow's role.

I couldn't care less what others think

JVR plays from behind and is soft. At suburban level he'd be found out

And Fritsch rarely puts his body on the line and doesn't like contact. That's why he won't lay tackles

He's a receiver as is JVR

Yeah now, but not then

Since then, those players keeping Bedford & Jordon out of the side have lost form

Sparrow was never much better than those guys. Now we're trying to turn him into a tagger because we let all the guys go who could actually play that role. Its a blunder.

Would happily drop Viney, he's a fading star and I don't think there's much of a place for him in our new system unless he can add more to his game. Give Rivers and our young players more opportunity in the midfield.

I'd trade Rivers

Wastes the ball and panics

And it is incumbent on all the players to get the best our of themselves

If they want to sook it up, trade them out. Getting paid $Millions for what?

To lay down on the job? A lazy, undisciplined and unaccountable group

That's what we are stuck with

And that’s why we have a head coach but he has enabled certain behaviours to creep into the side ie Oliver. This club is currently like my workplace, highly paid individuals paid well to perform, most of us do but a small minority don’t share the same work ethic, don’t go the extra yard and ride on the back of others hard work. They are dragging jobs out to intentionally gain extra overtime and in some cases rework is required cutting into any profit for that job. My boss argues with me that I’m paying you all well, you’re all experienced so this shouldn’t be happening, I simply replied you knew what these people were like when you hired them, you knew there strengths and weaknesses, these behaviours are not new, they’ve been acting out from day one and you chose to do nothing, eighteen months later you can’t reign them in and you’re acting surprised.

Hey @Macca ,I think that after 12 posts on the same topic in the last 40 min, you have clearly stated your position and made your point . We know you are a passionate supporter, but even I find it hard to be this passionate at 7.30 in the morning. Please tell what you add to your coffee.

Freeloaders & coach killers

So the gameplan is the players fault too?

I think that’s why some of the players have given up because they’re watching every other club go past and Goodwin refuses to budge. I read earlier (can’t remember which thread) that Goodwin has been trying to implement a new game plan since 2024, that makes it even worse. The little I saw of the Eagles last night they had some really good passages of play moving the footy at pace, running in numbers.

Sparrow showed a bit of promise back then but is now an ordinary player and has regressed.

Doesn't win his own ball but we've got more than half a list in that boat

Trade or delist

Again, none of these harsh player evaluations are the fault of the coach

'If it is to be, it is up to me' applies to all players. Blaming the coach when a player is not up to it is poor analysis

I guarantee you that if this lot hadn't won a flag, there'd be a lot more talking like me

Can you explain why he laid 200%+ tackles (5) last week compared to our three small forwards combined (2)

Footy is way different

The players are ruling the roost and it is plain to see

Was statistically one of the best ball users by foot in the comp last year when he was playing midfield. Trained there all preseason only to be kicked out so Viney and Oliver could take all the minutes.

I agree that the list needs a fair bit of change, to the point that we're getting into rebuild territory.

In that case I dont think Goodwin is the right guy for the job anyway. Always had favourites and we'd need a development coach.

Ha ha!

Well, people like you keep quoting me so I'm abridged to reply

Hey, I leave all the Goodwin bashers alone with their blinkered, idiotic views

And they say the same thing 1000's of times without ever being quoted

Maybe they like all the 'likes'

Sack the players, not the coach

That's a large majority of the list.
That Goodwin has assembled.

If the players are protesting, they should forfeit any money that they've received (and future monies)

What I find astonishing on this site is many here are constantly blaming Goodwin for the players poor form

Would we blame Roos or RDB or Northey/Daniher if a player has a shocker? I think not

Goodwin is an easy head to kick (and it's a cop out)

They're all out of form, which means they've no idea what they're doing. Are you honestly advocating for the club to clear out an entire playing list to save the coach?

Over the course of a season, he rarely lays tackles. One Swallow doesn't make Summer

And now that he can't get the ball, he's become a liability (like many others)

Stats are often meaningless

My eyes tells me he he doesn't hit targets and just kicks for distance

So you're saying that Goody lacks selection integrity, right? He backed Fritsch to get better when he was poor. He got better. He dropped him anyway.

You're describing most of our list there.

5 minutes ago, Macca said:

This is just nonsensical. Can you explain to me in clear terms what this new game plan is? Because the eye test suggests that it is about chipping it around precisely whilst also never, ever presenting out of forward 50. Meaning a dump kick has to happen, even if nobody makes a basic error in the 10+ kicks out of defence. This is not the same game plan as modern teams are playing where they chain handpasses, move fast and take risks. Your assertion that essentially every player is lazy because they can't play footy like you want them to just doesn't stack up.
