You know the drill. If someone gets this quicker than the time it took me to put together, I just might lie about it.

Funnily enough, these players have something in common. My apologies if this (theme) has been done before!

PM the answers (this means you Lampers). The prizes are phenomenal.............. and fictitious!

On ya bike and bring on season 2023:

Mitch Hahn     Stef Martin     Jay Lockhart

Chris Scott     Henry Playfair   Ted Richards

Adrian Battiston.   Jacob van Rooyan    Ed Lower

Tyson Stengle    Tim Membrey   Jayden Hunt

Aaron Naughton.   Brendon Favola    Billy Brownless

R: Michael Gardiner   Cam Pedersen   Cam O'Shea

!/C Callam Sinclair   Liam Jurrah   Jarrod Berry   Kayne Pettifer

PS - There's no clue in any of the above, hence the name 'clueless quiz'

Welcome to the Setters Club, Roger!

Though I'm wary of a double bluff in your 'no clue' spiel...

Thanks TRAB! I'm honoured to be part of the club, but there are definitely no single or double-bluffing clues. I can even confess, the bench is nothing more than a typo - should be I/C not !/C.

Go Dees

A clue, perhaps?

Still puzzling. However, in the process, this has taken me to a pleasant half hour of the Walpiri Wizard's highlights 😊

I'm thinking it's something 'straightforward' given Roger's concern that it might have been done before?

Not all previous quizzes have been straightforward though. Anyways, I think I might have it. Just gotta make sure before I PM Roger. The podium beckons!

WCW, there was, in fact, a tiny clue there, but it was so small, I hadn't noticed.

Good luck and it's not boxers or anything to do with music.

Silver and bronze still up for grabs!

Tim has kindly pointed out a clue in the first post 😬

Further clue:

Sub: Jason Johannisen

Time for a big clue or the big reveal, @Roger Mellie?

Thanks for keeping these alive, Mr Stone 🙂. I'm tempted to clue, but @Roger Mellie should have first (and last?) go at that, I think...

Knock yourself out Blew. I'm bushwalking in WA and have intermittent internet access. Initially, I was going to drop a few more clues but I think the footy got in the way. Gosh dern it - there's another clue! TRAB will take it from here with thanks.

Or....

🚬 ?

Alrighty then.

Sam Gravenall coached Essendon for only 12 games in 2022. Albeit from a small sample size, Sam's win/loss record is behind only Craig McCrae's, Chris Scott's and John Longmire's, of the current crop of coaches. But it is another, unique, aspect he brings that qualifies him to front @Roger Mellie's team.

He made a comeback 100 years after his first coaching stint?

Oopsies!

(Though might Bombers fans be looking over their shoulders for a similar 'Second Coming' in 2115?👼...)

Every time I come back to this I give up within 2.5 seconds.

My first reaction to this, layzie, was, 'Funny you should say seconds!'

Meanwhile, though, let the world know your quizophilic persistence has just paid off in that other still-live conundrum 👏

But a bit more 'clueing':

Four ' @Roger Mellie ' emergencies were named at this club's selection table on the Thursday night: Jason Johannisen, Jeremy Howe, Jarrod Molloy and Kyle Cheney. As noted, Johannisen became the medi-sub.

In this expanded squad, Roger's selection of Jayden Hunt becomes unique.

And in another way, I've just noticed, Roger's selection of Ed Lower is unique.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
