To be fair, we were excrement in 2013 and won a Premiership in 2021. Would anyone have said at any time before 2017 that we would win a premiership that soon?

We were pretty good from 2017 despite missing finals and very rough around the edges but the list was building.   I just don't see the Suns list in that mould.

Like to be proven wrong though as they have stuck fat with their coach unlike others 'traditional' clubs in Victoria in disarray.

Gotta hand it to them for hanging on. We were in that boat for so long.. wasn’t until our board recruited Roos and soon after Vince (who in my view) single-handedly brought back self confidence and pride in the red and blue when it was needed most. From there, the rest is history.

I feel like Suns need a circuit breaker like that to progress.. but for now, I think they’ll continue to languish.

Predicting a premiership window is about as reliable and picking one of these.

The expert tipsters on that show always seemed to be able to predict which window. Maybe they chose the wrong vocation?

Meanwhile ... the Suns aren't that far off it. They play good footy in patches, and have all the pieces, but they lose matches by dropping their bundle at some point in a match, when the tide is going against them. They pick up their socks but by the time they do, they're too far behind.

They then proceed to do that for enough matches in a row to drop off the pace and it's season over. A Scott, Clarkson, Hardwick, or Goodwin would have them in the 8 overnight.

I'm quite bullish on the Suns' prospects from here. Notwithstanding Rankine leaving, they seem to have staunched the bleeding of players and they've now got a solid core, with a number of high quality players, upon which to take the next step.

I take your point on the Suns.  With at least two final 8 teams from this year falling out of the 8 (as occurs every year) ,  2 spots will be up for grabs in 2023.

The Blues MUST be one of them, and as you say why can't the Suns be the other. That would be a credit to them management -wise if they could do it.
