Versatile midfielder who can also play half back, wing or half forward showed definite signs of development and improvement through the year at VFL premiership team Casey as he looks to take a further step up the ranks in 2023.

"The son of 2000 Brownlow medallist and former Demon Shane Woewodin arrived at the Demons as a father-son selection in last year’s draft. Is yet to play a senior game, but was a member of the Casey Demons’ premiership winning team this year." - Herald Sun

Date of Birth: 26 March 2003
Height: 182cm
Weight: 75kg

Games CDFC 2022: 18
Goals CDFC 2022: 7

There is always a strong attachment to a father son player especially when his name is Woewodin. Shane has left such an indelible memory on MFC supporters that we already had a strong desire for his son to succeed at MFC.  So the club needs to give Taj every opportunity to get him to where we need him to be a 200 game AFL player. Comeon Taj help us make it up to Shane.!!!

He looks to me to have this in common with his father: the talent level is not brilliant but he works hard to make the absolute most of what he has. That worked pretty well for Shane.

Has the skill level and poise and showed great signs in the grand final.

Something to certainly work with here.

The games I saw at Casey I was impressed. I have to admit my expectations were low, but he is a solid performer with a little extra. Just like his dad, you have to admire a kid who has had to work hard to get where he has risen….

Makes me think with work effort and talent he could be a very solid performer at AFL when ready

One to watch.

Very neat disposal skills.

Tough for his current size (goes in hard).

Seems to have good tank and runs hard both ways.

In the Grand Final there were few plays where he ran the length of the ground to be the last man taking the mark in defense.

Reminds me a bit of Langer with the gut running to help out team.

We are crying out for more good users of the ball (can't have enough of them).

Selfless role player and should fit into our team nicely.

Hope to see him make a debut next year!

Yes I recall seeing that in the GF and thinking to myself, hmm, that was very Ed of him. Hoping they have them paired up this preseason.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
