Amazing season, so hard to go back to back especially after an emotionally draining flag. We had the hardest draw and every team wanting to knock us off and plenty of unfit/injured players.

Goody and the coaches must be applauded for preparing the squad over preseason. Mentally showing up this year was so important. If we lost the first two games of the season we may have just squeezed into the 8! 

After the Freo and Lions results I am feeling confident Goody and the team have us where they want us and we are ready to go!

I feel like the team may feel as though they've ground their way through the tough part and are over the hump. It felt like they were running down hill on Friday, similar to last year's finals. Of course Brisbane offered little resistance but we came out of the blocks on fire and just mauled them.

It still holds true but with an exemption for teams playing us.. they need to be 3 goals up for each min left.

So often after winning a flag, players and clubs get arrogant ( auto spell suggested arrested which is true for some), and complacent. They often  lose focus and motivation.

But not us. We may not have finished top but we never stopped trying. We had a really frustrating run of defenders injuries from round one compared to last year but we fought on.

Although hunted by clubs and the press we held firm. We have a double chance to win back to back flags and I think we will. 

For the ammount of talent we are still a humble team with a laser like focus on what this game is all about.

From great leadership in Max to all our supporters we may be humble but we are proud as well. Not in an arrogant way but in a manner that says we are the best because we do our best. We play the ball and not the man. We play hard but fair. Our supporters are not constant booers and the club doesn't whine about poor umpiring or tough draws.( I may)

If you were an immigrant, a young kid or moved interstate and were looking for a code and club, you couldn't go past the mighty MFC.

I hope it stays like this and in 10 to 20 years time we have a whole new generation of supporters where we pull 45 to 55k to a game on a regular basis.

The club has done a great job sowing the seeds for future success, support and existence.

When you pay your money for a membership at any footy club the one requirement you ask for is that you have a 22 that goes out there, gives everything they have and never gives in. You may not always have the talent on the park that you'd like but as long as you can see that these guys are trying you can't ask for much more.

We have a very resilient side, there isn't a team that beat us this year that didn't walk off the ground feeling like it was a walk in the park. It is hard to beat MFC and this is exactly what we wanted all along on a consistent basis. Not a team that is all over the map playing romantic footy one minute and then not putting up a whimper the next. It is a battle hardened side that has had its share of setbacks and come through with flying colours. Everyone is marveling at Collingwood right now and the belief they have in one another and rightly so because it's very impressive, but more impressive is a team who has been in the gun week after week with a target firmly painted on their back and going through the great form, the challenges and then finishing on a real high in arguably their best performance of the season. It's not the sexy narrative but in my mind it is the more impressive one. 

Let's not forget also the Entrecote incident mid year, things like that can destroy football clubs and rip through like wildfire and make no mistake we could have fallen off a cliff after that. I think a lot of credit has to be given to those two  and the list for riding the bumps and working through all of this. I know what happened on Friday night with Harrison was horrible but if there's any silver lining it was seeing so many of our players get stuck into Zorko on his behalf and they looked genuinely hurt, espcially Steven May. After what happened mid year it is moments like that which can bind the group back together once again in my view. 

It's what I've always wanted: A professional, focused, never say die football club. You can micro-analyse things like the manner of losses but big picture check out that win column. Want a program that gets results? This gets results.

Another achievement: breaking a premiership drought/winning first flag and making finals the following year. 
 

It’s more common in modern times (Richmond 2018, Geelong 2008, Swans 2006), but it used to be a thing to miss after a breakthrough flag - Dogs (1955, 2017), Saints (1967), Pies (1991), Hawks (1962). We were actually clubhouse leaders in this stat (1901, 1927), so good to do what we’ve done.
