Love it Deever, so very true. You can only hope we're on the right track to make the change over time, it simply can't happen overnight.

Not to make light of things but I use this line all the time eg "You need a team!" haha

Tx again Layzie

As the proud son of a gay Daughter.....we must all make an effort to call out irrational and hurtful slurs wherever and whenever they arise.

I know it's a different issue but bigotry comes in many forms and it's great to see just about dlanders find it for what it is...hurtful...irrational and nasty.

If it happens at the footy, i will tell them off ( depending on their size of course😀)....or call up security and address the issue.

The club's will have to come around and do the right thing too even if it costs them$.

In the final analysis it just won't be tolerated and therefore biggots will find themselves alone watching the game on kayo with all their mates ( Zilch) instead of live at the ground.

And won't that be nice so we don't have to hear their dribble.

Thanks for listening again.

No suggestion or evidence that it was Carlton supporters.  (Also, I have to say I was impressed at how Carlton supporters at the game last night took what must have a shattering loss.)  More generally, it is a dangerous assumption that the supporters of one team are more racist than those of another  - and that includes Melbourne. I've known some Dees supporters who are shocking bigots.

I did include in my post the word "IF"

Anytime mate!

I’ve also seen a lot of people calling out anti-social behaviour lately. On Sat night in our area a Carlton fan screamed an obscenity at Melksham. Won’t repeat obviously but think one of those vile four letter words people with no brain or creativity say regularly. I texted the anti-social hotline discreetly but I was pleased that about 3 people instantly had the guts to tell them off to their face.

Who the hell does this anymore???

Seriously? Who?

They're out there don't worry.  Some morons let it all hang out (when they feel they're safe doing so).

Plenty of closet ones as well or ones that do it with great subtlety in a back handed glib fashion.

As if they're unaware that the world has moved on and nothing's changed or gone wrong in any way whatsoever since Capt Cook days!

One 50+ lady my other half knows says "it's all part of our Colonialism" and doesn't know what all the fuss is about.

We call it out to pressure the next person not to write something horrible. That awful person then doesn’t spread their disgusting words on and over time attitudes get better.

Not calling it out just leaves the cesspool untended and it will get worse and worse.

And this is the same reason why putting someone on “ignore” doesn’t suffice.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
