If we do - should Shane Neaves be promoted?

Our ruck stocks are pretty poor to say the least at the moment.

Putting Neaves on the senior list would at the very least put some upward pressure on Jamar who really needs to make some sort of impact on games.

Neaves is even further away from being a AFL ruckman than PJ at this stage. From what I've seen it wouldn't solve too much.

Agree....

I think we would be better off giving some younger boys already on the senior list a run! Petterd, Buckley, Warnock, Garland and Frawley all deserve a run in the next month or so! Now is the perfect time to see how they go....

Fair enough,

TBH I haven't really seen much of Neaves but had heard he had done some good things at Sandy - although I guess Jamar & Johnson rip it up in the VFL and have been found wanting so far in the big leagues.

I guess the wider issue is how poorly our rucks seem to be performing and the lack of depth we have in this critical area.

Jamar and PJ have been really dissapointing in my opinion.... Especially Jamar! I still have faith in PJ evolving into a good player but Jamar has just about done his dash in my eyes! Skills at ground level are shocking, pace is non-existent and his ruck work leaves a lot to be desired.... Why the hell we let Jolly go and kept Jamar will bug me for years to come!

He might well become a good player, but I don't think it will be as a ruckman.

That just leaves us with White and Jamar

I think PJ will be a player along the lines of Ben Holland.... Filling the tall forward role and at times playing as a loose man down back.... A man that big has to be of use somewhere! Just hope he gets given enough game time to show us what he's got... ND has been reluctant to play him in a string of matches and it is about time he tried it!

I agree - he should be one of the guys we try and get games into this season. I'm not convinced he can't make it at AFL level (unlike Rhino Richards etc), but we need to give him game time this season and see if he's worth keeping. He's currently got more upside than many players on our list. We can't keep carrying someone because we think he might be alright, regardless of his bad luck with injury, but he might turn out to be handy - even as depth. It's not like we'll be struggling to find guys we should delist come end of the year, and he's only 22.

pj did take 2 overhead marks yesterday

jamar has been disapointing, dont think his first touch was until he kicke dthat goal, not good enough for a player to be on the ground a fair bit and not touch the ball

PJ is worth persisting with. He has better ground skills than Holland and is a better kick.

I think saying he is a better kick than Holland is like saying that Beer tastes better than petrol :P

This Holland's last year so I dont know if there is any substance in that PJ support. I am not sure what PJ's future is.

Hate to admit it, but neither am I.

If Holland's leaving it's probably going to be worth having someone who can fill a similar role, so if PJ can prove himself - even as a 'depth' player - he'll be worth persevering with. We can't delist everyone =)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
