Here we go ladies and germs, back for a short time only and by popular demand (Lucifer's Hero demanded it and she IS very popular), it's another timewaster.

For those who came in late, your challenge is to identify what the players in this team, who are named in position, have in common.

If you think you know the solution, please send it to me in a PM so I can drag this out for as long as possible.

Incorrect answers, other helpful information and clues (not guaranteed) will be posted as I see fit.

Prizes will awarded as follows:

First:  What Paddy shot at     mo64

Second:  Not a sausage         reynolds46

Third:  Bugger-all     3183 Dee

B:    Mark McVeigh     Robbie Tarrant     Nick Maxwell

H/B:  Phil Read     Peter Foster     Paul Wheatley

C:      Simon Atkins     Greg Williams     Paul Kelly

H/F:  Luke Parker     Oscar Allen     Farren Ray

F:      Liam Ryan     Barry Hall     Bailey Smith

R:      Mark Lee     Scott West     Nathan Jones

I/C:   Max Walker     Michael Barlow     Lewis Taylor     Chris Bond

Over 50 views and only one poster brave enough to have a go so far.

Alas for said intrepid Demonlander, the answer is not that they form double acts in showbiz.

Bravery has nothing to do with it.

A couple of more responses have been received, but I can inform everybody that they are not all songwriters, nor does the thread title have anything to do with the answer.

We have a winner!  Congratulation to mo64 who has snagged first prize.

Another suggestion can be eliminated - the answer has nothing to do with Western Australia.

Silver and bronze still up for grabs.

Give a clue ffs.

I'll give you two since you asked so persuasively:

1.  Nothing to do with football

2.  Not related to the names of dogs and cats I've owned

Well done to reynolds46 who has cracked it and therefore wins silver.

Doesn’t matter if first, second or third. The prize is the same.

Another clue, which could be fairly described as obscure.    :D

Tom Gillies.

I tell you I have nfi so you provide an obscure clue. And it’s obscure BY DESIGN. Cheers.

I'm sure you'll appreciate that this brainteaser was not compiled just for you.

With a medal still up for grabs, I'm not going to give the answer away just yet.

I too am surprised by Luci's apparent absence and also that of Mazer Rackham, a perennial winner.

I'll PM the answer to you so that you may get some sleep tonight, mate.  :D

3183 Dee has come up with the correct answer and takes home the bronze.

So we can all get some sleep tonight, I can reveal that all the players in my team share a surname with a well known criminal, both Australian and overseas.

Thanks for your interest and those who played.  It's been a busy night of PMs.

I'll put up my other teaser on Sunday afternoon when there is very little happening football wise.

If anybody's wondering about the Tom Gillies clue, he was said by his team mates to resemble a criminal and earned the nicknames "Crim" and "Homicide".  I did say it was obscure!

LOL.  I was out and only just logged-on so missed the whole show.

Will confess, I wouldn't have got it even with the obscure clue!  Clearly real world crime/crims aren't my thing.

Well done to the medal winners.

I look forward to ds's Sunday doozie...

Okay @Demonstone, now give us the crims they were representing, you brutish mastermind. Couple of bushrangers there, a US terrorist bomber, a British serial murderer couple, Eric Bana and Faye Dunaway, but the rest?

H/B:  Chopper Read     Peter Foster     Glenn Wheatley

C:  Susan Atkins     Carl Williams     Ned Kelly

H/F:  Bonnie Parker     Dennis Allen     James Earl Ray

F:  Ronald Ryan     Ben Hall     Neddy Smith

R:  Jean Lee     Fred West     Brian Jones* (Mr. Baldy)

I/C:  Peter Walker     Kevin Barlow     Squizzy Taylor     Alan Bond

*  Was going to go with Rev. Jim Jones, but not strictly a criminal.
