NON-MFC: Round 12, 2022

If last week didn’t prove it this week does, Freo are the real deal. They feel very similar to us last year, they’ve got lots to prove and the talent to do it. Question will be if they can sustain it, that question was posed to us and the rest is history. How will Freo go if they reach the top of the table and become hunted though?

Sorry, but it is. Just as holding a jumper when a player has not got the ball is holding the man, holding a jumper of a player with the ball and the player does not dispose of it = holding the ball. Always was, always has been.

might be technically but it doesn't get paid unless you tackle or swing the bloke around with intent.  if you stand next to the guy and gently hold his jumper you'll never get a free

It changed to have to be an effective tackle.

I see on the AFL website McCrae is going to get clarification around ginnivan. So guess what will get paid next week

LOL.  Hope the AFL says: dropping the knees, ducking the head and diving are faking and should not be rewarded.  In fact they should be penalised.

tbh Ginnivan did deserve a couple of frees not paid.

I laughed when McCrae said that 'Selwood had made a living out of it'.  Sam Mitchell  said the same of Puopolo.

Hopefully, the umpires keep up the non paying of frees to the likes of Weightman and Ginnivan.  Stop them while young so they don't grow into a Selwood type.  Btw, I've noticed that Spargo and Kozzie aren't playing for frees so much lately.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
