I’m just a social member now following a lot of back injuries in the past 2 years but sounds like a plan when I’m healthy again.

Ah back injuries are a nightmare! I've had to deal with back tightness the last 2 years as well, especially with Covid and sitting at a desk all day.

Yeah sounds good. Reach out when you are back down there and we should have a hit.

Heard a rumor that RMGC waiting list fees are $20,000 +

And the RMGC greens (or at least maybe 6-9) of them are said to be in dire straits, having been “fertilized” with RoundUp.

It was an incorrect chemical but it wasn't Roundup. Rather than "dire straits", they are being repaired and will be back in a month or two.

Showoff? Nah just an just a mug golfer that happened to be in the right place at the right time to meet up with this group of guys... Elitist? Nah to that as well.... I have played a lot of 'ordinary' courses as well, including Brighton, Yarra Bend and Sandy courses in Melbourne.

If I really wanted to showoff I could list the strange countries I have played golf in.... golf provides endless stories......

St Andrews is open to the public, as I understand it? As a public course and such.

Anyone playing off single figures while managing a professional football career is just plain crazy to me.

Would love to play a round with Maysie, he'd be cracking company I reckon

Wasn't Hunt a top tennis player in his youth? I seem to recall he was said to be better at tennis than football when he was drafted.

Not sure. Probably.

Good sporting pedigree, Uncle is Andy Moir who played for the Dees, his grandfather ran at the olymics and his Mum is a sports teacher.

Hi Super,

There is no waiting list at  Commonwealth at present, much to their  chagrin.

Expensive entry fee ( ? $10,000), but reduced annual fee till you’re 40.

Big works about to start,to try to get back to the standard of RMGC, KHGC, Metro, and Vic.      Commonwealth is a great “ members’ club”……….. people try to meet other members and enjoy playing with them.  It’s not easy….. tricky greens, and as long as any other Sandbelt course.

Board members from CGC were spotted at The National recently

Watch this space..

just for the golfers out there …….

I’ve been living in Europe now for many years and was lucky enough when I arrived over here to fall in with a good group of guys that organised a golf weekend each year. I have been involved with it since the early 2000’s and we have played some great courses. Been to Scotland a number of times and played the Old Course at St Andrews as well as most of the other courses in the area. Also have played Turnberry, Troon and Prestwick in Ayrshire. A highlight was playing Royal Dornoch in The North. Off to Scotland again this year.

In Ireland we have also played some classics such Portrush and County Down. In the US we have been to Pinehurst a couple of times and that is a great place to have a golfing holiday. It has 9 top quality courses with No.2 the site of the US open a number of times. Played Whistling Straits and Eden Hills a couple of times with Whistling Straits rated the most difficult course I have played. Great course but long and hard. Off a 14 handicap I managed to shoot a 95 and was very happy with that.

played in a few other places in Europe and the Us but the ones mentioned were wonderful memories.

Yeah but have you played the Beechworth sandscrapes?

Gus can get back to golf. RM greens are back in play, albeit a little slow, 4 weeks after the "incident".

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
