Jay Lockhart joined Melbourne through the 2018 Pre-season supplemental selection period after originally crossing from North Launceston to join the Casey Demons. He made his senior debut against Geelong in the second round of 2019 and played 22 games as both a small forward or defender but failed to play a senior game this year. Has been delisted. Date of Birth: 3 February, 1996 Height: 177cm Weight: 73kg Games MFC 2021: 0 Career Total: 22 Goals MFC 2021: 0 Career Total: 9 Games CDFC 2021: 7 Goals CDFC 2021: 0

I thought that Jay would have been in line to replace Nev but Jake Bowey stepped into the void and really looks the goods.

Good luck Jay.!!

Was disappointed Jay did not get a real go last year and was up against it when Nev was picked from Round 1.

Some days  reckon we missed that smaller defender but as we kept winning Jay could not force his way in.

Still think he had the ability but when "Bowser" was selected it was all over for Jay. Jake is a great player in the making no doubt and love his footy to bits.

I hope Jay can find a VFL side at least as he has the skill and date to make it.

All the best Jay.

Was sorry to see Jay go. Thought he had some good potential. Was playing well before a knee injury from memory saw him omitted. He never got back ...

Certainly had ability although disposal needed work.

Very unlucky this year. Played in the preseason Community series against the dogs & copped a serious [censored] injury which needed surgery & missed a month or more.  If he had stayed fit he would have been well placed to replace Nev Jetta early in the season.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
