So you're bordering on being offended on behalf of others?

Who says I’m an other? Racism is racism. It isn’t about whether I am Chinese, or any other race.Ā

It's been 8 years since that was posted, and I still have no idea what the value of pick 2 is!?

Fanatique Demon……..Really? Thanks for that lesson in a very common metaphor. (It originated in the FablesĀ of Aesop incidentally)
Ā

Skuit said ā€œChinese shopā€ and I ran with that thinking it was humourous. Ā FWIW my wife is Chinese and I speak fluent Mandarin having lived and worked in that country for many years. I’m the lastĀ person to aim racist remarks at the Chinese.

Why are people so keen to bring race into every comment and argument when often the writer/speaker has no intention ofĀ bringing racial commentary into the text/conversation? The spontaneity of humour has suffered due to the extreme sensitivity of some people and I feel sad about that. If I caused you offence however, I apologise.

Oh yeah. I speak French too. Your name should read DĆ©monĀ Fanatique if we are going to be picky about ā€œcorrectnessā€.Ā ?

Ā

I dont want to get into an argument with someone who is obviously so much smarterĀ than me. But my simple view was that the saying is ā€œbull in a china shopā€. If the original poster thought the saying was bull in a ChineseĀ shop, then that was simplyĀ through a lack of knowledge. HenceĀ my original question about whether the change was deliberate.Ā ButĀ if it was purposely changed to Chinese shop, then that is unnecessarily bringing race into it.Ā Ā And then we saw comments about noodles and chop sticks. If you can’t see how this works, then I am sorry. BTW,Ā having a Chinese wife and speaking the language doesn’t mean someone isn’tĀ Ā racist.

That makes (at the very least) two of us!

I liked "bull in a Chinese shop".Ā Ā

I can visualise bowls of noodles and chopsticks flying through the air and patrons flying through windows.Ā ?

Fanatique Demon is right ProperDee. You should probably take that stuff to the Trengrove vs DustinĀ Martin thread.Ā

Bull in a china shop has nothing to do with race or nationality. This version is bordering on racist and is such a cliche.Ā

Hey Skuit,

I wish you'd pressed "Kaspa" on whether he hit it. It didn't look like it to me. But I'll never forgive Ponting for sending them in.

Actually, the question was whether his gloved hand was on the bat when(?if) the ball hit it.

Have you met Craig McDermott at any cooking shows? I want to know whether that ball from (?Walsh) hit his helmet or his bat when we lost by one run in 1996.

Never met Craig McDermott. But I once bumped into Michael BevanĀ at the DarwinĀ trots and unfortunately said how much of a hero he was of mine and how I was really sadĀ when he broke his kneeĀ bumping into Mark Waugh running between wickets. He said, I think you're thinking of Michael Elliot mate. Derp. So embarrassing. So many Michaels though. Fun fact: MichaelĀ KasprowiksĀ and Michael Elliot debuted in the same test. And nowadays even our training sessions are 'miked-up', lol,Ā although I'm pretty sureĀ Michael HusseyĀ would never complain about planking. Mr. Cricket!Ā Ā

Bevo might have been thinking of Matthew Elliott.Ā Ā :D

As the saying went at the time, "If you drink and run, you're a bloody Elliott!".

Was at that match Walking. Kiwi fans had a field-day, rightfully. But then this:

Kane 'Willamson'

It’s just the world we live in now ProperDee I’m afraid.Ā Cancel culture and second guessing rule the roost.Ā

I was watching it onĀ TV and ā€œMcGarthā€ drove me to distraction. The Williamson one I’ve never seen before.Ā

The beauty of Demonland is the people like @SkuitĀ who delve into deep analysis, that not even the boffins at Champion Data(tm) would contemplate. This is why I love this place - perhaps this could have beenĀ in the Game Plan, Tactics, all that Jazz thread?Ā ?

Ā

Indeed EO. Apologies for adding to the proliferation of threads in the wake of a loss. Small matter but, I don't identify as a person, but it's okay because IĀ know you meant no offence. As an engorged onion though I imagine you go through that a lot.Ā

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven MayĀ

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian SalemĀ  Ā

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4Ā Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
