It's been 8 years since that was posted, and I still have no idea what the value of pick 2 is!?

Fanatique Demon……..Really? Thanks for that lesson in a very common metaphor. (It originated in the Fables of Aesop incidentally)

Skuit said “Chinese shop” and I ran with that thinking it was humourous.  FWIW my wife is Chinese and I speak fluent Mandarin having lived and worked in that country for many years. I’m the last person to aim racist remarks at the Chinese.

Why are people so keen to bring race into every comment and argument when often the writer/speaker has no intention of bringing racial commentary into the text/conversation? The spontaneity of humour has suffered due to the extreme sensitivity of some people and I feel sad about that. If I caused you offence however, I apologise.

Oh yeah. I speak French too. Your name should read Démon Fanatique if we are going to be picky about “correctness”. ?

I dont want to get into an argument with someone who is obviously so much smarter than me. But my simple view was that the saying is “bull in a china shop”. If the original poster thought the saying was bull in a Chinese shop, then that was simply through a lack of knowledge. Hence my original question about whether the change was deliberate. But if it was purposely changed to Chinese shop, then that is unnecessarily bringing race into it.  And then we saw comments about noodles and chop sticks. If you can’t see how this works, then I am sorry. BTW, having a Chinese wife and speaking the language doesn’t mean someone isn’t  racist.

That makes (at the very least) two of us!

I liked "bull in a Chinese shop".

I can visualise bowls of noodles and chopsticks flying through the air and patrons flying through windows. ?

Fanatique Demon is right ProperDee. You should probably take that stuff to the Trengrove vs Dustin Martin thread.

Bull in a china shop has nothing to do with race or nationality. This version is bordering on racist and is such a cliche.

Hey Skuit,

I wish you'd pressed "Kaspa" on whether he hit it. It didn't look like it to me. But I'll never forgive Ponting for sending them in.

Actually, the question was whether his gloved hand was on the bat when(?if) the ball hit it.

Have you met Craig McDermott at any cooking shows? I want to know whether that ball from (?Walsh) hit his helmet or his bat when we lost by one run in 1996.

Never met Craig McDermott. But I once bumped into Michael Bevan at the Darwin trots and unfortunately said how much of a hero he was of mine and how I was really sad when he broke his knee bumping into Mark Waugh running between wickets. He said, I think you're thinking of Michael Elliot mate. Derp. So embarrassing. So many Michaels though. Fun fact: Michael Kasprowiks and Michael Elliot debuted in the same test. And nowadays even our training sessions are 'miked-up', lol, although I'm pretty sure Michael Hussey would never complain about planking. Mr. Cricket!

It’s just the world we live in now ProperDee I’m afraid. Cancel culture and second guessing rule the roost.

Was at that match Walking. Kiwi fans had a field-day, rightfully. But then this:

Kane 'Willamson'

I was watching it on TV and “McGarth” drove me to distraction. The Williamson one I’ve never seen before.

The beauty of Demonland is the people like @Skuit who delve into deep analysis, that not even the boffins at Champion Data(tm) would contemplate. This is why I love this place - perhaps this could have been in the Game Plan, Tactics, all that Jazz thread?

Indeed EO. Apologies for adding to the proliferation of threads in the wake of a loss. Small matter but, I don't identify as a person, but it's okay because I know you meant no offence. As an engorged onion though I imagine you go through that a lot.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
