Getting better at centre clearances effectively won us the flag.

Bang!

Bang, Bang, Bang!

I would argue that it helped us dominate the GF. But our ability to win in multiple ways won the flag.

The Dogs are a great clearance team and that is all they had, they couldn’t score goals easily any other way, so when that swung 180 in our direction it became a domination.

Being the best post clearance team got us to the GF and kept us in it. Nothing is ever one thing.

Good bump.

They have smashed us in clearances.

Buy only scored 19 points from them.

And will lose by 5 goals.

Again

Normal reception resumed.

Still prefer to win the clearances, that’s when the Bulldogs were on top they were dominating the ball in the middle.

Clearances and conversions, two most important stats in football and simply backs up what the eye test shows.

Rooey:

'It's no longer a clearance game"

Bucks;

'The most important stat in footy is post clearance possessions, which demons dominated'

They only had a short period where they got really clean clearances and they hurt us on the scoreboard. Taking first possession and “winning clearances” isn’t important if you can’t take them cleanly.
I thought we shut them down well after half time by not allowing them to take the ball cleanly out of the center.

Our centre clearance stats would be much be better if Gawn stopped hitting the ball directly to the opposition.

Our forward line would have kicked 30 goals last night if we'd been able to win the ball straight out of the middle on a regular basis.

Gawn is an all-time great but some of his taps leave a lot to be desired.
