2020 Player Reviews: #6 Luke Jackson

A prodigious talent who can play ruck, midfield or as a forward. Will be hard to match up on as he matured as a footballer.

Date of Birth: 29 September, 2001

Height: 198cm

Weight: 84kg

Games MFC 2020: 6

Career Total: 6

Goals MFC 2020: 3

Career Total: 3

Votes 2020 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Memorial Trophy: 79

So excited to watch the career of this young man unfold. The glimpses we got of him during the year showed what a huge potential talent he is.  He has midfielder skills and agility and I'd really like to see him at least given a bit of time in the centre of the ground.  He will probably end up 200cm/95 kg and will hopefully be a nightmare for opposition defenders for many years to come if he doesn't become the tallest mid in the game.

I guess the biggest challenge will be keeping him in our colours for the entirety of his career.

Me to PD, he really does have a lot of skill and tricks, an exciting time for Luke Jackson and MFC, just a shame that he didn't sign for a few more years, still team success will quiet all our trembling hearts..!!!!

Does anyone remember Bryan Kenneally?

IMO Luke is Bryan mark 2.

Has a similar playing style and played 1st grade in his first year.

If I am right we will enjoy his contributions for years to come.

The kid can clearly play, but I hope he doesn't become one of those utility types who is good at a lot of things but not elite in any respect. The next couple of years of development are going to be crucial.

I'm not convinced he's a key forward and he's not big or strong enough to be a full time ruckman. That probably leaves him as a midfielder, possibly on the wing where he could be a huge asset if his two way running is good enough to see him fill a hole at one end and then provide a target at the other.
