2020 Player Reviews: #22 Aaron Vandenberg

Adds that much needed touch of physicality around the ground and if he can stay on the park, he will remain a valuable part of the team for a few years to come.

Date of Birth: 3 March, 1992

Height: 191cm

Weight: 90kg

Games MFC 2020: 12

Career Total: 47

Goals MFC 2020: 1

Career Total: 43

Votes 2020 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Memorial Trophy: 90

Ranked 267 in the AFL for average disposals.

Ranked 165 for average tackles.

Ranked 77 for average clangers.

Ranked 110 for average turnovers.

You gotta love his intensity and consistent effort, but IMO this year his mistakes cost us more than his positive impact.

I am glad that AVB stuck with us much better having him in our side rather than in someone else's that we have to play. Hopefully 2021 will be a better year for Vanders and us.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree DZ many of us rate him  plays hard and straight ahead  kind of player. One who plays his role for the team.

Yes l expect better from Vanders in 2021.

Heading into the final year of a ridiculous three year deal, and at almost 29, Vandenberg would want to improve significantly to earn another contract. Yes, he runs hard at the ball and tackles well, but his disposal and decision making are well below par, and he doesn't kick enough goals for someone playing mostly in the forward half. At least he seems to have gotten over the worst of his injury issues.
