If Daniher winds up at the Lions, would that squeeze McStay out? He could be a good cheap KPF target...

It would be amazing to land him, but I doubt Collingwood would let him go. Offer him $600 k over 3 years and see if we get a bite.

Is it a Colonwood / Eddie plot to get Weed to the Magpies?

Not surprising. Pies will have some salary cap issues over the coming years. Too many big contracts and long contracts will bite them. Putting guys like Grundy on 7 year contracts is poor list management.

Mihocek is a decent footballer, but he's no better than average. You wouldn't pay him more than 300-400k. His management have probably got him more than that by shopping him around, so kudos to them.

Grundy was a free agent and one of the best players in the game, either you pay him a truckload for a slightly shorter deal or try to spread the load out over a period like 7 years, that's the new modern reality. Mihocek's easily above average, he's a good (not great) key forward in his prime seeking his career best deal. But he also seems a very loyal person so I doubt he held the Pies hostage for every last dollar.

With Moore and Daicos also signed the question will be can the Pies just offload Phillips and keep everyone else. Or are they going to push De Goey or Treloar (or both). Or are they going to make decisions on different factors than the salary cap when it comes to either of those 2.

Personally I think it's Mihocek and Daicos who were the Pies we could've had interest in. Phillips only if the price is very little. The 2 bigger names don't interest me.

I'm glad we're clear of Mihocek. He's a tough solid player but one only needs to watch his highlights to find he's predominantly an opportunist when it comes to goal kicking. Finds space as the third tall. We already have similar players of his type/role.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
