ANOTHER WASTED SEASON WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO?

Spot on. Our top 6 or so are as good as any in the comp but our bottom 6-10 are just horrible and bring us down every time. I dare to say some of them would not get a game for North at present. That's how bad they are.

This is the thing for me, the bottom X amount of players -from squad to fringe etc.

If we're looking at it from a point of view that coaching can't help these players improve.

What structure/format/changes/gameplan could the coach implement where these players are more cogs in a wheel and their deficiencies sort of 'hidden' as such.

Drafting has been somewhat scattergun and there are players who aren't at the required level i understand that. But surely a coach should be able to construct some form of a system that doesn't highlight their inefficiencies as much.

Bingo, and how vaunted essendon were early in the season. And then it gets dresssed up in the media by Lloyd, that he doesnt know what they stand for.

They and Melbourne aren't [censored] standing for anything* because they're [censored] knackered.

*hilariousness of when you lose matches, it means you don't stand for anything.

Apologies for a capital a in And ;)

Writing degree. And I'm all for starting sentences with an 'And'. Go nuts. Fill your boots. Etc. ;)

We are weak as P. Players and Caches need to look into the mirror big time and see if they are willing now to have a go seeing Giants lost. Win one of Swans/Freo and most likely in. Now we have to turn up Saturday night against Giants. Still I have no faith but who knows what team will turn up.

Something I'm really hoping to see is an aggressive trade period, I think there are going to be some hard calls made on some older players we shouldn't rule anything out. Go hard or go home this trade period.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
