POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs Adelaide

I'd have put this in a general umpiring thread, but couldn't find one.

Another rule -not-of-the-week is players in the so-called protected zone.  Being ignored at the moment (eg. Frisch's mark at 4:50 in Q1) Personally I think that is a good thing - so many have been paid where the offender would have had no effect on the play.  But watch the umps pull one out at a critical moment to the despair of half the supporters (actually probably far less than half).

Talking about the commentary, give me Mark Howard or Huddo anyday. Ed and Derm should not be on together because they don't focus on the game and rather act as if they are sitting round a table talking about the past.

Dwayne is just annoying. Kingy is ok but I wonder why he never went into coaching. The way he analyses the game makes him sound like a coach.

also well done on Goody calling out the off the ball treatment Maxy gets off the ball. I know after his presser the fox footy team didn't agree with goody doing that but he is obviously had enough of the treatment.

I think that little nugget was designed for us. Your response (and mine for that matter) is exactly what he was after.

I think I recall a couple where they completely ignored the defender running passed the player with a mark way too close....

The worst was Trac with a free kick on the boundary line later in the game and the Crows player just blatantly dropped the ball right in front of the umpire instead of handing it over....

There was an even worse one. I think Langdon had the ball at CHF, in maybe the second quater and a crows player came within 1 metre i reckon.

All langdon had to do was turn to right and feint to kick and it would have been paid, but he didn't react at all and nor did the umpire. The  commentators noted it was debutant and that he was lucky, bit of course didn't criticise the non call.

On commentators my head is literally going to explode the next time i hear Dwayne say ' nice drop step'. What the [censored] is DROP STEP!!!!!!

And while i'm on this topic i will literally disintegrate next time one of those peanuts say something similar to 'literally anything could happen here'

NO.IT. COULDN'T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AFLitis is a cruel disease Binman, but things will look better in the morning.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
