I also don't understand how people don't want to go after Daniher?

He's a FA and we could get his body rightย

or we could pay significant coin to a player who, on a reduced list of 35, has shown zero ability to get on the park for the last two years

i still think he's headed north

I wouldn't want us to pay big coin for him - that might be where the deal will fall through.

Bennell couldn't get onto the park for 4 years? Still took a riskย

I just don't see why we wouldn't throw our hand up and express interestย

ย

Would love to know what our salary cap looks like.ย
We spent big on Lever / May, how much of that was front loaded.
Many fans still citing we need a key defender and a key forward, we still lack midfield class.ย

Thoughts on Harry Himmelberg as a fwd option?ย

Haveย his set shots improved?

Just now, whatwhatsaywhat said:

fogarty just did his shoulder unfortunately

he might be another in a long list of player's whose body is simply not made for the rigours of afl-level football

Your kidding.

Well, that might help us, he may want a change,ย  from the downward direction of the crows in a rebuild period.

Not enough upside - could see him go in and out of the teamย

I just don't get why we don't play Weed or Jacko deep and get games into them

His,ย  Daniher's stories don't ring true.ย  So we Demonlanders smell something that is uncomfortably bullish.

I was checking out Harry's stats just last week 'BA';ย  with this view.?

I saw him as a cheap gettable option. Kicked roughly 30 in 2018 and 40 in 2019.ย

Iโ€™d be playing Weed all season if fit but weโ€™re not. You would think heโ€™ll leave at years end if that is still the case.

Whilst I donโ€™t think Jackson will need years to influence a game, he will be managed this year, notย quite ready.

agh, but what about as CHB.?ย ย  swing man.

We need a running key back who will draw opponents ahead of him,ย  and skilled enough to layoff to a teammate, to advance the ball.

What are our options?ย
Weed will likely leave for nothing at years end.ย
Throwing a truck of cash at someone is one thing, getting them to the club is another.

To be honest there's not much out there and I'd rather save our coin for someone who earns it.ย

If Weed leaves this year without playing at least 8 gamesย it'll be a shame, have to give him a few more cracks at itย

Term of contract,ย  money,ย  and negotiating with GWS.?ย

I still would be to rushed to jettison Weide.ย  This is the first time he has had a decent injury free entry into the season, and its a carp season.ย  His body is just starting to appear manly so IMV he's just entering his productive time.ย ย  He's contracted to end of next year.

And I would honor Weide's contract; and try to extend next season.ย  If he starts to show his stuff.

ย

ย

Now we are appearing like we are going to free up quite a bit of salary cap space this end of season.ย  For Whom.?

We must build the list every season.ย ย  Make savings elsewhere.

But to fall behind others in our area of ladder development, is to give up.

CHB is an issue,ย  and I don't think Lever is it,ย  not do I think Smith.ย  Both Lever and Smith to me are tweeners.ย  Utlity's.

ย

I want an attacking CHB like peter knights did back in the day. with modern subtleties.ย  Maybe the Hardeman comparison is more apt.?ย  But not a 197 cm beanstalk...ย  but a low centre of gravity strong build,ย  who can run all day and hit targets.

We don't have to literally build the list every year. I want to but I'm also thinking long-term and I'd rather hold out a year then rush someone in. We can still build the list by backing players in and cutting the dead wood.ย

yes we all want types but they are either snapped up early or don't grow into that role until year 5/6.ย

Yes of course,ย  and If we cannot get an upgrade on our picks, we need to trade some in.

ย

One type was Rivers,ย  another type was Jackson

One other type, I'd like is PWright.ย  That heavy ruck/forward who would hope can use his body weight to effect.

Tmac and Pwright are way too top heavy.ย

Two semi-trailer turning circlesย

With the covid 19 tight financial impact, I think AFLย lists would be cut toย 40 by start of 2021 (37 + 3 rookies)ย ย
ย

Gawn (c)ย Viney (VC)ย Oliver. Petracca. May. Harmes. Brayshaw. Melksham. Fritsch. Jetta. Lever. Langdon. Tomlinson. Salem. Tmcd.ย

Preuss ย Hannan Hore Hunt Lockhartย

Injury queries - 2020 a must year -ย J.Smith# Vandenburg# Bennell#ย

Developing - Petty Sparrow Bedford Jackson Pickett ย Rivers Jordan Nietschke (r)

Hold onto ย (but need to show more) - Weideman ย  omcd Hibberd Brownย

(35)

trade - ANBย

likely retire - Jones

Likely delist.ย KK. Dunkley Spargo. Cwagner. Baker JWagner. Chandler. ย Bradtke ย

Add 5 more (3 main list + 2 rookies)

Putrid selection . Putrid putrid putrid: this is a blight on the club. Setting us up for failureย

Not as a comboย  MF-c.ย

Wright to play deep pocket with someone like Hunt at FF,ย  and a small. ย  TMc can get back to his old playing weight,ย  play high,ย  or leave.

ย

My vision,ย  ideally would be for Wright in pocket alongside Weide, who would be the lead-out FF.ย  Picket about them.ย ย  A mobile smallish CHF (think Ryan Okeefe) playing high.ย ย  And speed on the flanks.

I watched the Crows match earlier.ย Himmelberg needs a lot of development. Still not agile enough. Big but inactive type.ย

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
