Melbourne v Richmond

It may seem Glass-Half-Empty but I have a feeling both teams will be eyeing each other off quite closely.

It would seem time for us to make a genuine submission to win by this time of the year.

Even if we were having a "late start", I cant believe any one at MFC would be happy to tank this one.

I reckon it will be a belter of a practise match (if Im right and there hasnt been a deal done to go half hearted)

I almost wish I wasnt going surfing...

Franky the surf is going to be much better Sunday morning, 4-6 ft and offshore early.

Go for a surf Sat morning, then go to to the footy, then surf Sunday morning. That's what i am doing.

Where are you heading for a paddle?

Does this mean Newton is in the squad?

Bring it on.

Wonder if he will be given more than 5 minutes a quarter and played in his rightful position.

There is no way i am missing Juice's debut in the Demons colours.

Judgement Day, well sort of.

Thanks to Demonology

according to Punt Road end we're up 6.5 to 2.4

wouldn't have a clue about goal kickers/best players.

again according to them these are some of the match ups:

Raines on Yze, King on Davey, Bowdenl on Neitz, Deledio on Miller, Gasper on Robertson

EDIT: Damn you YM for being 2 mins faster!

Six goals - isn't that our entire quota from last week?

sounds like we are playing some good footy? would like to know who is kicking all our goals??

Now 8.6.54 to 3.6.24

I'm out of SMS range but I'll try to get a half time summary from Fan or Scoop Junior at half time.

Is it on the Radio?

To my knowledge it is not on the radio.

One PRE poster suggested that we took our key players off towards the end of the qtr when they kicked 3 quick ones

Neita doing OK apparently - starting to "get away a bit" from bowden

Anyone know how "Chip" Frawley's travelling?

Can't get through to the guys at the ground but will let you know when I hear from them.

Finally spoke to Scoop Junior at the ground just as they were about to start the third quarter.

There's a fair bit of player rotation going on with eight players on the bench. From the selected squad Ben Holland and Byron Pickett are out as foreshadowed and palying tomorrow for the Zebras.

Melbourne dominated the game but late in the second quarter Richmond suddenly kicked into gear and reduced the Demons' 30 point lead to 11 points in fairly short time.

Goalkickers: Neitz 3 Jones Davey Green C Johnson

Best Players Carroll C Johnson (on a wing) Jones & Neitz while Travis has been quietish, his skills have shown out and he's had a hand in a few goals

Chip Frawley's been only on for the best part of 10 minutes and as you would guess, he hasn't done much.

Thanks for that WJ. Much appreciated.

We kicked the first goal of the second half but the Tiges kicking is off beam 9.8.62 to 6.10.46

Meanwhile the Vics were all out for 122 in their second dig and they miss out on the Pura Cup final.

Now I can concentrate fully on the Demons, the World Cup Cricket and the World Swimming Championships!

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
