With all the talk of reviving Harley Bennell’s controversial and injury-riddled career after only 2 games in the last four seasons, why not look at Cyril?

Turned 30 earlier this year and yesterday, on his comeback at NTFL level, he booted the winning goal for the Tiwi Bombers. Perhaps his Bomber teammate Austin Wonamaerri or Palmerston Magpies opponent Aaron Davey could convince him to make the move back south?

Fairytale finish for Cyril's footy comeback in the NT

Ridiculously overrated.

Cyril Rioli: 189 games, 275 goals

Jeff Garlett: 185 games, 321 goals

You could have gone on.

Cyril Rioli: 4 premierships

Jeff Garlett: 0 premierships

He looks in ripping nick

Jeff got most of those goals as the last man in a chain.

Cyril invented his goals out of nothing, plus he gave away plenty.

Jeff's a seagull, Cyril is a jet.

Cyril has retired.  Why a thread?

Possibly because that “retired” player took part in a game of football less than 24 hours ago and, at the age of 30, it’s not inconceivable that someone that age might be convinced to make a comeback?

Fair enough.  Not inconcievable..

Never understood  the 'overrated' calls - you'd never find a hawks supporter who thinks so. One of my absolute favourite non-demons to watch, even though he tore us to shreds a few times. That said, I reckon the chances of an AFL return next year are about on par with Jurrah.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
