The Fixture is all about Maximising The TV Audience. That is why they will not go to 17 Rounds.
the Broadcasters have paid $ Billions, they want to pull that money back and make a profit.

Playing 24 games will actually increase revenue for all but more importantly will bring more fairer system... play each other once & if your in the 8 you play them either home or away again..so no free ride to the eight... understand that the fixture want be known until round 17 is complete but we have now is hopeless

Not the worst suggestion I've heard, but I reckon the AFL would face a lot of opposition from other sports (esp. cricket) if they attempted to extend the season by another two weeks.

Drop the bye & week off before the finals...

I doubt the players would want an extra 2 games. I can see where you are coming from, but 22 plus Finals is what we have, and i would be very suprised if that number changed. But then we are talking the AFL

I agree that we could dispense with the week off before the finals.

However, I can't see the players agreeing to what would be a 25-week home and away series without at least one bye.

The AFL have normalised a compromised draw.

The power clubs would not give up the advantages by any means.

We should just have a rolling draw of home and away matches. The season to be 20-22 games and Friday night games nominated 6 weeks out.

Won't happen but we all know something like this is the fairest system.

Play 17 rounds so each team vs once then.....

Top 8 sides vs each other

Bottom 8 sides vs each other

This way teams would play both home/away

This will stop teams with an easier draw playing finals.

Only an extra 2 games

You'll get weaker teams making finals if the 9th and 10th sides play the bottom teams double up and 7th and 8th play the top.

Plus there's 18 teams, not 16.
