So why did Clayton Oliver, Only spend 74% of game time on the ground? Still played an excellent game.

Compare Nat Fyffe 94%

I remember thinking Clarry  seemed to be off for longish periods of time.

Can't be fitness! I hope the rotations are keeping our best on for longer periods rather than shorter.

I can remember him pacing the boundary line in the 3rd Quarter desperate to get back on the ground.

Just also Gus 71% Viney 81% Recon we should be up to 90+ % with ourn mids, If Fyffe can do it why not Clarry??

Hard to say when your not a member of the football department.

Why should they need to be out there 90%+ of time anyway?

Fyfe was doing that as they had injuries. 2 out of the game and 2 stuggled on.

Clarry averages 82% so not sure why he was down a bit

Fyfe would not want to play 94%

1. Fyfe is 27, Oliver is 21.

2. Fyfe is a gun forward, Oliver is maybe an ok forward

3. Freo were down 2 on the bench for most of the 2nd half

4. James Harmes strolled in to the goal square to kick a vital last term goal ahead of Fyfe. The kick in to him came from Brayshaw who got it from Oliver.

In an ideal world Viney, Harmes, Oliver and Gus should all play 70% in the centre square, with Petracca or even someone like Hannan or Lockhart taking up the last 20%. Clearly those numbers could change in a blow out win or loss. They should all play about 10% of time in the forward line to try something different for a total of 80% game time. Hopefully in time we can get even more flexibility and mix these guys through roles forward or back.

Our game plan requires our inside mids to charge around the ground in attack and defending. The days of playing anywhere close to 100% on ball are over.

Thanks for some perspective. Would still like clarry at around 85 ish!!

Was at the Casey game on Sunday.

The absence of the runner makes for some agitation on the interchange bench when it comes to getting players off. Lots of screaming by the players waiting to come on.

How they manage at a packed ground like the MCG would be interesting

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
