16th on the ladder (and deservedly so) would suggest we should have mountains of salary cap space available.

If not, there is some serious mis-management going on.

Hang on. On that logic, preliminary finalists last year would then suggest we donโ€™t. And the fact we had to move Hogan on to get May suggest to me not only was it picks we needed to get the deal done, it was also salary cap relief.

No chance he ever comes to us.

I agree. GWS set themselves up last trade period to keep their core group of players, Cameron being one of them. Theyโ€™ll offer him mega dollars, and theyโ€™re not the basket case The Suns are so I reckon heโ€™ll stay on massive $.

Each club uses almost the same amount of salary cap each year. I believe they have to spend a minimum of 95% of it.ย

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
