Have you noticed the player pics in the header?  Based upon performance (and staying on the park), there are 10 players there, and on a pass mark basis, we would be lucky to get a 3.5 out of 10.  Describes the whole season, I reckon.

Not exactly on topic but any chance of bringing Jetta 'back into the fold' so to speak.  He looks like an outsider lost in the dark, going in the opposite direction to everyone else.

Maybe, Jetta can have center stage!!

Said it when the banner went up that May hadn't earned the right to be there, let alone have center stage.  Still think that.  Would be happy to see him replaced altogether.

I liked it at the time,  cause its a new fantastic concept, imv.  But I was wrong...  I was concerned our seniors weren't in centre.

...  and I was concerned about  Nev's  positioning.  He's usually much better than that. ?

Would not be surprised if he and Simon had already had informal talks about ways he can help. Roosy doesn’t strike me as the type of bloke who’d want to see his MFC legacy obliterated in twelve months. Proud man.

And Goody is mad if he doesn’t think he needs the advice.

Doesn’t look like anything has changed since last September to my eyes. 

We have been opened up and exposed and i don’t think Goodwin knows what to do about it. 

Hope i am wrong, but i have grave doubts simply because an alternative would have been worked on during preseason if there was one

I suspect you’re right to an extent but practically what do you do about it? The guy just inked a three-year extension. 

Both Roos and Goodwin’s interests align here. Goodwin will be a dead man walking in 12 months if he can’t right the ship. And if the implosion continues Roos is going to be ridiculed for doing half a job, choosing a poor successor and abandoning the Dees too early. 

They need each other. Goodwin especially needs the mentor. Like you I’m still not convinced he appreciates the magnitude of the task, both practically and culturally. 

Along with the Gold Coast job MFC senior coach remains the hardest gig in football.

But handing over the job to a rookie was highly risky, for reasons we are seeing unfold. 

I like Simon, but just watching his last 2 vids to Members, he has a hint of desperation in his voice, but this is not a new problem, it started back in September in the most important game we had played in 18 years. 

Goodwin was completely murdered that day, but he shrugged it off as a bad day. Well it was far from that to me, it was a stark reality check that is yet to be addressed

There were other warnings signs prior to the debacle in Perth, too. Despite the finals wins (against jaded Hawthorn and Geelong sides) we got smashed on a number of occasions by the real premiership contenders. Goodwin had no answer to Buckley, Hardwick and Simpson on the big days that mattered. QBday, Anzac game, Prelim ... comprehensively walloped in all of those games. The rest of the AFL fraternity have clearly done their homework based on those hammerings and systematically pulled our pants down so far this year. 

That said injuries and ill luck have not done Goodwin any favours and there are still critical list and personnel issues that need to be addressed. These I’ve alluded to in the Petracca and Patton threads.

Injuries have hit our list hard because Goodwin’s Game style is too physically taxing to play it every week. 

Thus i wait to see foot skills improve before I believe he can turn this around

We just drafted mostly players with pace last November.   Apart from our trades.

I think Goody knows our weaknesses,  exposed in the Prelim...  but we have been caught out Re list & game plan.  

So this year seems to sticking with close to the defensive game plan as a best option for 2019.    And injuries have gotten in the way early this year. 

 

I reckon he'll sort it,  when we have good players who can play with run and dash.
