There is absolutely no reason though to lie about it.. why would you say we didn't review it if we did review it..

Its truly bizarre and the club has been nothing more than a mess since the PF loss.

There are any number of reasons why they might publically say they didn't review that game when in fact they had. And much nuance in rhe statement the club did not review it.

Apply some intelligence and thought to it and you will work out what those reasons might be and what the nuances might be.

Even if there was no reason to lie about it, it's possible that it was said without thinking but once said Goodwin might have felt he then couldn't change his story.

Not being pedantic DV8, just weary of generalisations to whip players so am now looking for real info/facts.

I'm not happy with how most of the players or the team are tracking this year but that doesn't mean I am going to whip players or unfairly target one or two.

I don't think anything said on Demonland will drive a player forward. However, if you mean that the coaches should push the players harder as stated in Demonland, you might have a point. But it's actually much more nuanced than that. Every player is different and professional coaches need to know what works to get the best out of each player.

For example, Mick Malthouse was known to drive his players hard and move out of the club any player who didn't bend to his expectations. Look where that left Carlton. On the other hand, Brendan Bolton is presented as a coach who takes a modern school teacher approach. And look where that's left Carlton. In other words, every player is different and there isn't one guaranteed approach which will work in every circumstance.

It's plainly obvious I disagree with this,  'LDvC'.

Thats why I do it.

Sometimes players get quite comfortable,  in the knowledge they are feeling the love of supporters (perceptions)...  but quite possibly the comfortable player is under-performing,  yet feel in themselves,  that they are doing well.

Many get ahead of themselves,  in thoughts,  they are better than what they're delivering...  especially kids that have been taught they can do no wrong.  the apple of their private mentors eyes.

These same types leave  a lot left behind, (left in the tank)....   Watts his face,  comes immediately to mind.

Pulling the rug from under these types,  needs to be done to improve the reality.   And the sooner it happens, the better the result.

Because false praise,  builds layer on layer in their minds... hallting their development.

In a way,  this is closely linked to why  Mfc  has a very high fail-rate in our past,  with top level draft recruits.

We either go one way or the other.... with players of high expectations.   We put then on a pedestal...  or we Harass them negatively,  from the get-go..   Neither of these methods are balanced.

The kids should be placed under some pressure from their coach,  from the start.   And they also should have support within the club,  from team manager and others within the club... who can counsel them around their footy, and life situations.

The Kids should do their time at the start... in relative anonymity... and without any  Fan-Fare.

The worst we can do...  is pump them up like a  Good-Year  blimp.

They should be left to develop in the quiet of early-morning games,  where few  'off-field'  are watching them.  and reporting on them.  This is what we have Lost,  with no Club U-19's competitions, any longer.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
