And our game plan has achieved exactly what it can. It demolished inept opposition...and stalls against anyone knowing what they are doing.

Footballs equivalent of the Peter principle...in a fashion.

In essence I totally agree with you

This is why I wanted Sloane,,, and to ADD to our 26 & 27Yr olds this year...   as they lead our kids to higher standards.

We are not what we think we are.

Bottled supporter bathwater again, being overly Optimistic;,,,   then the switch turns,  and we go full lock Pessimistic.

The truth is in the, 'in-between'.

This is the bit that worries me the most.

Where is the tinkering and adjustments?

seems to me we play pretty much the same way each week against different opponents....

Yeah I was referring to you in the ("yawn") bit...

Just 2 kicks going the other way and we'd be sitting 2nd on the ladder playing to set up a home QF this week.

It really is swings and roundabouts - if the two games against Geelong went the other way the Cats are sitting 12th and missing finals after overachieving the last 2 season's and topping up with Ablett to have a tilt with Dangerfield in his prime and Selwood on the downward curve. Does Scott still get a 4 year extension if that's the case?

My wife is a cats supporter so I see a lot of their games. A lot of cats supporters are not overly enamored with Scott.

Geelong has recruited better than any other team IMO in the past 12 months.  Their mature aged recruits (Rata..., Kelly), really surprised us round 1.  Jack Henry is a multi-dimensional tall that should go close to rising star.  I know Scott doesn't necessarily 'recruit' and that is Wells' job, but Scott has done really well to keep Geelong from bottoming out.  Don't forget he was there at Freo during their resurgence for memory.  Opposition coaches rate Scott.  Whether they won or lost the close games this year, it is immaterial.  Only nervous MFC supporters and Lyon get dictated by results, rather than fundamentals.  Look at Roos on OTC last week.  He wasn't panicking like the rest of the pack.

Having said that, we will pump them in round 1 of the finals IMO.  See how Ablett and co. don't run defensively from congestion on the OTC footage tonight?

I don't disagree but they would be feeling the heat from supporters who thought Ablett might be the difference between 3rd and a flag.

I get to most Cats games, family is surrounded with Cats supporters. Most supporters are outraged by his 4 year extension and many wanted him gone, or at least wait until the end of his contract to see next year. Has crumbled in finals, inherited his list from Bomber and tried to top up every year. Tried to buy a flag with Danger, who cant hit the side of a shed and has held on to many injury prone players and dead wood while they don't have a lot of top end junior talent.

I think he's quite overrated as a coach, who was blessed with a core bunch from their glory days. Not to mention he's an arrogant pig. This season has been a failure for them "so far" with that midfield. He'd want to get them close this year and not hanging on to the 8 next year or their will be a riot at Kardinia Park, you hear it in the crowd during games.

All supporters see is they have only won 3 of their last 11 finals, not good enough with that list.

Goody has said all season that it only matters where you are at the end of Round 23.  He has shown so much patience and faith in the team.

He looks like a genius now compared to media clowns like Terry Wallet.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
