With odds-boost I just got on for 400-1 Wadda ... took the Storm to win @ 2.15 as the Storm line drifted out to +1.5.  Anyway,  we're in with a show.

One thing I recall from winning a few decent multi's is that you need a couple/few decent payers amongst the picks.  i.e you've got to take a few chances.

It's not as simple as just picking all the favoured teams to win.  Our 2 value picks are West Brom & Monaco - mixed in with 4 other picks that ordinarily could or should get up.

Yeap...thats a good point, a couple of decent legs. Thats why i always liked under 15.5 either side cause you always get at least 2.60 and it covers the draw. And with odds like 400/1 you only need get one and your in front for years. Many free hits after that.

Pity Storm could get the job done in Slaters last H&A game. Did alright till halftime. Reload again tomorrow. I like the other picks.

I base my thinking on the make-up of the results of any pick 5, 6 or 7 that one might put on ... there's nearly always at least 1 or 2 results that would have been at good odds beforehand.  Of course,  predicting which ones is the tough bit.

My Monaco pick is based on them finding their true form ... they are a team that will almost certainly finish in the top 3 in Ligue 1 at seasons end so they will start winning at some stage and they are a free-scoring team.  Marseille have good scoring power from their midfield too.  2 - 1 or 3 - 1 is on the cards.  Here are their historical results (head to head)

We just can’t get Panthers games right Wadda. Such an unpredictable team. Storm had a host of players out, Slater missed the game due to family reasons I believe.

Penrith had two players sin binned in the first half, they somehow managed to hold strong with the disadvantage and went on to win the game. It was actually an entertaining match to watch. Very strange feeling watching an NRL game only on a Friday night.

I’m liking the soccer games chosen this week, awesome value. I’m placing all 5 in the multi and also looking to play around with a system 3 or system 4.

I need to remember to read this thread a lot more.

Some very tasty soccer picks there. Quick multi before hitting the hay.

Hey Layzie, thanks man. We did it just for some fun and were interested in peoples best bets to do with any kind of sport across the world over a given weekend. We are all pretty easy going here and there are no arguments and egos. Feel free to join in the fun and select a pick or 2. Just try and get them in by a Friday evening if you can. We also have the now infamous Day at the Races thread, which if nothing else will be good entertainment during the upcoming Spring Carnival.

Got close with the 2 losses too Wadda ... I'll add a couple more soccer to the 2 we have left out of our original picks - these 2 ...

EPL: Watford vs Tottenham (Win) and Match Score +2.5 goals $2.30

French Lique1:  Monaco (Win) and Match Score +2.5 goals $3.70 vs Marseille

Arsenal,  Man Utd,  Barcelona,  Valencia,  Ajax,  Napoli,  Leipzig,  Schalke,  Benfica & Porto are all engaged in matches tonight so there's some choices available.

Well,  if the 2 choices left get up then we're going to have PL again Wadda ?

I'll add on 2 or 3 more out of the other soccer games played tonight and then hopefully wake and win!  Don't fancy the Rugby League games today so overnight it is.

I know many like to watch a sporting event whilst having a bet on that event but I'm often the opposite (except for horse racing)  I'd often rather watch & enjoy without the hip-pocket factor.

For instance,  the Broncos are playing for a home final today as long as they win by 24+ whilst the Sharks can't take it easy either - they lose by a good margin and they could lose the double-chance.  And we know that blow-outs can happen in Rugby League - either way.

Came up with a 4 leg multi for overnight soccer games.

I’ve taken 2 the suggested specials. Spurs win/over 2.5 goals and Monaco win/over 2.5 goals into a couple of more games.

BELGIAN PRO LEAGUE

Cercle Brugge v Gent - Monday 3rd at 02:00

Gent win/over 2.5 match goals. $3.10

 ITALIAN SERIE A

Lazio v Frosinone - Monday 3rd at 04:30

Lazio win/over 2.5 match goals $1.62

I like it ....ive been to Gent! Awesome old town in Belgium. Beer and chocolate to die for! Im on...

College Football has commenced this weekend. I don’t mind indulging in a 3-4 leg multi over any given weekend consisting only that of ranked teams and line betting only.

The top 25 are ranked and those rankings change weekly depending on results over the previous weekend. Some of the lines set might seem like a little over the top but as we know the bookies get things right most of the time.

Some of the ranked teams might play against weak and unranked colleges and I’d rather hedge my bet with a highly ranked team.

Here’s how Week 1 has fared so far with the Top 25 teams covering or not covering the line. There’s no written rule that you have to take the favourite at the line, it’s just my preference.

Number before team denotes ranking and A or H denotes home or away.

(21) (A) UCF 56 v UCONN 17 Line UCF -23.5 ✔️

(11) (H) Michigan State 38 v Utah State 31 Line Mich.St. -0.5✔️

(4) (H) Wisconsin 34 v W Kentucky 3 Line Wisconsin -36.5 ✖️

(13) (H) Stanford 31 v San Diego State 10 Line Stanford -14 ✔️

(5) (H) OSU 77 v Oregon State 31 Line OSU -39✔️

(23) (A) Texas 29 v Maryland 34 Line Texas -13.5✖️

(7) (H) Oklahoma 63 v FAU 14 Line Oklahoma -18.5✔️

(16) (H) TCU 55 v Southern 7 Line TCU -50✖️

(2) (H) Clemson 48 v Furman 7 Line Clemson -50.5✖️

(6)  (A) Washington 16 v (9) Auburn 21 Line Auburn -1.5✔️

(3) (H) Georgia 45 v Austin Peay 0 Line Georgia -48✖️

(17) (A) WVU 40 v Tennessee 14 Line WVU -10✔️

(10) (H) PSU 45 v App State 38 Overtime. Line PSU -24.5✖️

(15) (H) USC 43 v UNLV 21 Line USC - 26.5✖️

(22) (A) Boise State 56 v Troy 20 Line Boise St -10✔️

(18) (H) Miss St 63 v SF Austin 6 Line Miss St -48✔️

(12) (H) Notre Dame 24 v  (14) Michigan 17 Line ND -8.5 ✖️

(1) (H) Alabama 51 v Louisville 14 Line Alabama -24✔️

(24) (H) Oregon 58 v Bowling Green 24 Line Oregon -30.5✔️

I like to wait until a few weeks into the season when the rankings become a little more concrete although they do alter, it still gives me a reasonable idea of the stronger colleges.

As you can see above, some lines were covered and some not. You might want to avoid the lines set at -30 and above but those teams did give the bigger spread a decent shake. I tend to also avoid ranked colleges playing each other unless I see value in the home team.

There was only one noticeable upset with the 23 ranked Texas losing. Sometimes head to head markets aren’t offered in certain games, only line betting.

I don’t mind the NCAA Football as something to pass the time by and we all know we needed other interests to get us through the off season in the last decade or so.

Had the goals but wrong winners ... however,  Liverpool,  Man City,  Juventus,  Real Madrid,  Barcelona & Bayern Munich all won with all their games providing +2.5 goals  (Barcelona won 8-2 in their game)

So the method is there but the trust has to probably be with the really big clubs and then be satisfied with the lesser dividend.  Just like the horses,  it's better to be let down by the class runner/team.

Good bet???? To win $700....

A bad bet ... a real bad bet!

You often wonder about the situation of those who place these sorts of bets ... do they do it all the time?  Unlimited collateral?  Seems like a hiding to nothing bet DZ.

Thats why i was asking about the injury senario Macca. Sure there are 1.02 bets, but i always think......(not that id ever bet on them)....what about the injury scenario and forfeiting matches ....do these monkeys even think of that? Some people have too much money

1.10 or even 1.08 you'd maybe understand but 1.02?  That's what I call skinny odds.

And here we are trying to win $700 with a fiver!  ?

I’ve never understood the idea behind these massive bets at those odds Macca. What’s the theory behind it? I mean....$700, what difference does it make?

The only thing that springs to mind is the punter might be some kind of high roller that needs to keep turning over funds for rewards or benefits  of some sort. Even then, TAB rewards won’t get you a flight to the Bahamas.

Well what we can guess at DZ is that it couldn't have been a first-timer.  And perhaps the punter has never been burnt before with these sort of bets?

Not sure you'd 'go-again' in a hurry though ... the quintessential 'Once bitten,  twice shy' hey!  Oops!

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
