No. It's not Aaron it's his brother Alwyn who (according to http://www.bomberblitz.com/index.php) was the star of Essendon's first serious hitout for 2007 in an intra-club match at Princes Park last Saturday morning kicking three goals and putting himself in line for immediate senior selection for the season proper.

Now didn't he do a pre season with us last year and wasn't he rejected even for the rookie list?

Will we rue the decision not to take him or was it a case of Alwyn being too similar a type to his more famous brother?

Anyone can shine in a intra club match. Look at Andre Gianfanga last year - he too kicked 3 goals on Brad Green and now look at him.. I'm not saying that will happen but I wouldn't give a stuff if he kicked 10 goals in the intra club match the point if he still needs to prove himself in AFL level. I'm pretty happy with our list atm and I'd rather hype on about our young kids then anyone elses.

What he said....

...although I think we didn't go for him because, yes we already have the tried and tested model; but also, where do you play him? I would have thought the forward line but with a few likely talls forwards coming through to take spots there is really no room.

FWIW if we were bereft of talls like to Bulldogs and building a game plan around speed then I would be disappointed that we didn't.

In the end he ended up at a club that lacks both a genuine small forward and real speed.

In reality he should be making an impact!!

I must say that I thought some of the Bombers' picks were strange this year. I believe they picked a number of small opportunist type players recently, who clearly can't all fit in the one side. Davey, Jetta, Dikk ( the bloody site is censoring his name ), Dempsey and another who escapes me for the moment will have to contest with Lovett, Monfries, Dyson and others for a forward pocket or flank. The Bombers list might become unbalanced with these selections and they may regret it in the future. Then again I could be completely wrong and they could all become stars but I doubt it.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
