Hey all,

My mate John has just signed up to the league, so now we have 12 players!  He's never played before but he loves a bit of fantasy footy and is keen to have a crack.

So everything seems to be clicking into place nicely!  Bring on the draft! :)

At least he has a great name ..I will try to look after him.

please note, these late changes are quite unsatisfactory, Some of us, or at least me, had organised our team around the draft picks organised before John joined us.This workload is very annoying and note I have had pick 7 every year but one, where I had 10.,this is not on, and next year, if we have not got it together earlier, I am out...I feel like pulling the plug now.

That would be annoying for you for sure, but in the end, having a league that works is better than not having something at all.

The picks in the draft, I believe, are entirely random. Before John joined I had around about Pick 5, now it's 10. That's life I guess.

I agree though that we need to get things sorted earlier if possible, although that's easier said than done.

Bottom line is we have a league, and I'm happy to contribute a season preview, weekly reviews etc to get a good atmosphere going!

I'm hearing you JCB and agree the lead up has been a bit messy. However I will take the reigns going forward & keep everything organised in 2018 & beyond.

and by the way it doesn't matter what pick you have or how much pre work you put in as your team is always terrible ?

For the record when I last won the flag in 2016 My first pick was 14. It really makes no difference, as it's all about developing your team and trading.

Good luck everyone in draft tomorrow night ?

@poita - the draft tonight is set as a slow draft, not a live, 60 second draft, so I'm throwing out a late hail mary in the hope you log on here before 8pm tonight and you can change it. Cheers.

Hmm not looking good. If omr doesnt get control before 8 should we quickly start a new league and all join? Or get in contact with mods to allow us to redraft during the week even if some might miss or find it hard?

Not sure. If all 12 teams are present it will still work but I assume Poita has a team? So if he doesn't show the draft won't work. I open to a new league if all else fails.

New League is a great idea if needed.

Poita has pick 2 so this draft will not get off the ground.

Matt - Did you want create it & we can have it on standby for 8.30pm

Risky but might work if we all show.

If you create it now then I'll be happy to quickly sign up and get it going.  Can we contact everyone else?

If Poita doesn't sign up then I'll let my mate John know that we won't need him after all so we have even numbers.

Unfortunately you can only make the draft for the next day. Has poita been active on demonland recently?

Let's go ahead as is...to much stuffing around changing all the time....I brought the issues to your attention ages ago.To night S the night

I don't think you understand jayceebee. The league is set for a slow online draft with 24 hours per pick. Poita who isn't here has pick 2. That's where tonight's draft will end. It's a farce.

He logged on and posted in a thread on Friday, and by that point we had tagged him in numerous posts asking him to either hand over admin duties or at least fixing the draft date.  He ignored them all.  Hopefully we can change to tomorrow night.

Not only that but I don't even think the Galah's, who have first pick, have shown up either!

I don't mind if we lose a few players in the next 24 hours as I feel as though those who do will be all over this year and make for a great league.

Couldn't agree more, OMR!  Short term pain for long term gain!

Thanks again for doing this, Matt.

How do we contact all involved?  We should probably aim for 10 players if possible.

Well done Matt!

Will and myself appreciate it...

One more sleep till draft night.... AGAIN! :)

Thanks Matt.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
