The AFL Under 18 Championships fixture -

Note:

• Yesterday’s game between SA & WA was moved forward from Round 3; and

• The Vic Metro v Vic Country game from Round 3 and all Round 4 & 5 games will telecast live on the Fox Footy Channel.

There are two games on this weekend in the 2018 National Under 18 Championships.

Team Selection: National U18 Championships – Round 1

Today, it’s the Allies taking on Victoria Country at Blacktown (10.30am) 

Tomorrow, it’s Western Australia v  Victoria Metro at Optus Stadium (11.40am)

South Australia has the bye but remains the favourite to win the championships and it has the player who most experts regard as the likely #1 choice for the November national draft -

Vic Metro has beaten Western Australia by 18 points in its opening NAB U18 Championships game today. Two sons of former AFL players Noah Anderson and Rhylee West along Sandringham Dragons midfielder Bailey Smith were among the best. Smith’s  teammate Ben King booted five goals.

The main father/son would be Rhylee West, son of Scott but there are a few with various family connections.

Mitchell Riordan hurt his hamstring last week and will miss the rest of the championships. Not such a bad thing.  He will be a star. All the attributes. Think how Sloane and Parker were end of 2nd round bargains. Riordan is this years bargain as he is likely to slide to 30-35 range.

Luke Valente was BOG v Allies. The kid is seriously good. I thought MFC could steal him around the 30 pick but I think he will go top 15-20 now.
