Are there many father-sons amongst them this year WJ? I’m assuming McGuinness and Koschitzke?

SA’s Jack Lukosius remains hot favourite for the #1 draft pick

U18: Lukosius lifts SA past Vic Country

South Australia  2.1.13 5.2.32 9.4.58 11.7 (73)

Vic Country 1.3 4.5 4.9 6.10 (46)

Goals
South Australia: Lukosius, Rankine, Munn 3, Kennerley, Colwell
Vic Country: Serong, Garoni 2, Barzen, Flanders

Best

South Australia: Gould, McLennan, Valente, Lukosius, Jarvis, Kennerley

Vic Country: Duursma, Walsh, Stephens, Reid, Serong, Berry

If, as expected, Carlton slide their way into another top pick, will they really pick another tall forward - be it Lukosious or King - given their dearth of midfielders?

They desperately need top class support for Cripps

  • 2 weeks later...

Toby Bedford keeps impressing as our Next Gen Academy pick.

Many clubs this year have father-son, Academy and NGA rights on players, many of which fall in the top 10-30.

Mitchell Riordan hurt his hamstring last week and will miss the rest of the championships. Not such a bad thing.  He will be a star. All the attributes. Think how Sloane and Parker were end of 2nd round bargains. Riordan is this years bargain as he is likely to slide to 30-35 range.

Vic Metro 4.1.25 9.1.55 9.5.59 13.6.84

Vic Country 3.1.19 4.4.28 7.6.48 8.10.58

Vic Country Walsh, Duursma, McHenry, Flanders, Bowman

The championships continue today, with round four action at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

The Allies will meet South Australia, with Vic Country to do battle with Western Australia and Vic Metro having its bye.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
