TIRELESS

The Demons received great value from the versatile cult hero Cameron Pedersen who worked tirelessly in the ruck in the absence of Max Gawn and Jake Spencer and as a second ruckman who went forward with great effect and stood up on many occasions when it counted.

his best was outstanding, certainly, but there's times throughout and within matches where he simply went missing - i think he's actually better as 'the man' within the forward 50

it's no wonder that hogan loves working with him i50 as his work rate is very good and he does all the little things required of a big bloke, crashing packs and competing in the air, buttering up at ground level, and tackling with intent

it seemed like his kicking was markedly improved in 2017

one thing that will be interesting to see as we enter 2018 is his fitness - having returned in less that optimal condition at the start of 2017, he clearly worked his backside off to get up to required standard

if he returns in 2018 with full fitness and determined to make the most of his opportunities, there's no reason to not expect him to be an integral part of the side...particularly if watts goes, as is now expected

crazy to think he's one of our elder statements

gysberts, who?

Absolute legend! His 2-3 month stint in the ruck while Max was on the sidelines may go into the Demon archives as one of the great efforts in recent MFC history.

Remember when everyone (probably myself included) wanted him delisted after his first season in 2013? Look at him now. He picked up his first Brownlow votes on Monday night as well.

He has the opportunity to play another big role in 2018 with Watts' likely departure.

Excellent year! Hope next year he stays fit and interested. I say interested because i think he gets dropped unfairly.

A very handy utility with a great pair of mitts.

Honestly if his 2018 is better than his 2017 he will probably play on in 2019.

Cam was a pleasant surprise in 2017. I like many others expected him to play as depth and probably finish up this season. Really pleased to see him get another year.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
