Yes, you’re spot on, 5 max. I just got in the Tab app and tried a 6 horse multi and it said no deal.

Hi Binman....did you mean Kementari? Im not sure i like this laying of other peoples Best Bet too much. Is it in the spirit of the thread? Everyone is putting a lot of time and effort into their picks to try and get it right for the group. Sure i respect your opinions and your input is valued, you can write what you please, but perhaps read the preceding posts because maybe you didnt realize....cheers and good luck.

Gigantic odds Wadda. My shout if this gets up? Nice pick @binman I had trouble deciding between Shillelagh and Gailo Chop.

My “Roughie/Each Way”

Flem R4 No1. Run Naan $26W $6.20P

Can't really state that a Group 2 race is a drop in class but this horse has been racing against the best. First attempt at the 1400m, drawn wide so a roughie in the true sense.

Good Luck all!

I agree Wadda ... we can't be betting against each other with regards to the best bet otherwise the idea dies just as quickly as it started.  I understand that we should be able to say whatever we like but in terms of a team effort,  the combined best bet is the only real team aspect here.

But punters more often than not prefer to fly solo and the combining of thoughts is a usually regarded as a foreign concept  I've never understood that thinking because it simply doesn't work from an overall perspective.

That doesn't mean we have to all fall into line,  it simply means that we should try and avoid going against another persons best bet here (what anyone does privately is a different matter)

It would probably be a lot different if there were a dozen of us here ... if that were to be,  the thread would almost certainly turn into an online version of a TAB outlet  We'd all be trying to outdo one another.

If you watch 'Get On' on Racing.com then you'll know what I'm talking about ... whilst the show is a lot of fun and often informative,  they are all trying to outdo one another.  Even in their quaddie pick they fly solo in each leg rather than work as a team in each leg.

Spot on Macca. I was mainly referring to the overall spirit......which i enjoy and thats us all working as a team. It been great and id like to keep it that way. Its just a tweak, all good things need a tweak now and again.

I saw the end of Get On today, but yes i see what you mean.

I noticed a best bet on there was Shakora Flem R5. What does anyone think of that horse?.....its not a great field.

6.00 the field

For the punters,  the 'Get On' crew should combine their thoughts for each leg of their quaddie pick.  And if they bomb out,  they all have to wear it.

Again,  they are just trying to outdo one another ... which is fun to watch but not very helpful.  Unless one follows a particular tipster who's strike rate is highly profitable,  I don't see the point in taking them seriously.  Never have in fact.

She’s a promising filly. I was on her each way last start and it was a terrific run coming from the rear. She looked the winner at one stage.

The first (Rimraam) and second ( Bring Me Roses) horses in that race three weeks ago have gone on to place in their next starts against quality opposition. Judging by that I can understand the logic behind it.

I’ve noticed my “ Roughie” might be running with 3 legs today, it’s blown out to $31 now. I must be missing something....

Yes i dont ever follow the press, occasionally Dr Turf is spot on tho. Jason Richardson is pretty good, but pretty hot and cold also.

The tipsters are all hot & cold Wadda ... and it's always been that way and it always will be that way.  Even working as a team has its issues but its got to be better than 1 person's opinion.

Anyway,  I've got a hot tip for the Adelaide Cup (Monday) from another mate who only ever gets 3 or 4 of these tips per year ... these tips rarely,  if ever,  don't come through.  It's a Weir horse which will be ridden by Craig Williams - No.11  Ormito.

Gailo Chop holding at 3.40 and Almandin coming in 4.80......Bit of a spruik around for Taj Mahal into 7s

The Australian Cup is an interesting trifecta race ... a good dividend beckons with so many horses being able to get into the finish.  Homesman & Hartnell have claims as well.  Gailo Chop is good odds though,  all the same.

Hartnell is a WFA star, cant leave him out i guess....Gailo had the better of him last time, lets hope he does it again.

My mate in Sydney has gone to Randwick. He wants to have a look at Ace High. I told him to send us some pics.

I just saw on Racing.com the story (id forgotten) about how Rich Charm was bought for nothing and trained by that elderly woman trainer Ula Clarke who only has a couple of horses, is up against Merchant Navy from the big stable that was bought for millions.......great story.

Udyta Clarke trained the winner of the 300k Bernborough Hcp (Someday) back in late December.  Saluted at 40-1 in what was another great story.

Thats the one.

Portman was heavily tipped on Racing.com this morning....just ran 2nd last. The bolter won by 5l.

Heavily backed too, a work mate had all his multis centered around Portman, thought it was a “good thing”. It was caught a bit wide but disappointing all the same.

The winner could have gone another lap without being run down.

The Flemington track is a beauty on a sunny day. Quite picturesque.

Did anyone catch the latest on Jack Hill?

He had a horrible fall in the first at Adelaide and layed motionless up to the time they turned their attention to Flem. I only caught a bit prior to the second race in Adelaide and I believe I heard he’s conscious and talking.

Hoping all is well, the fall looked terrible.

That was a nasty fall for Hugh Bowman ... I've rewound the race a number of times and it looks like the horse just suddenly goes sideways under pressure.  The horse goes to the left whilst Hugh goes to the right.

Hope he is ok ... apparently moving now after initially laying motionless.

Just watched the replay of the race. Did the horse get spooked? You’re right Macca, suddenly stepped sideways. That’s two falls today.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
