Verry Elleegant salutes in the Oaks in the Demons colors. 99 Grp 1 wins for Waller.

Too good,  too classy was Verry Elleegant.  Another great prospect for the future Wadda

Winx retires and then the onus goes to 7 or 8 very good horses that are a notch below ... the way things normally are/were before Black Caviar & Winx.

As a punter,  I prefer the latter situation but as a horse racing enthusiast,  I prefer the former arrangement.  And the horse racing enthusiast in me wins out.

We are going to miss Winx once it is retired ... I would have preferred another Spring campaign and a 5th Cox Plate but it's not a perfect world.

I've put Harlem into a F4 but I'm only having a bet in the race because it's the last time we will see Winx race ... unless of course the connections change their minds!

That was nerve-wracking!

What an absolute wonder horse - the mighty Winx!

Joins the ranks of Bernborough,  Carbine,  Phar Lap,  Tulloch,  Makybe Diva & Black Caviar - all champions in their respective era's.  Sunline as well maybe.  Vain was great too.

I'm in no position to separate them so I won't ... much prefer to celebrate them all.

Winx - Champion!

That was amazing. Hope you got the ff.

On a side note 4 favorites in a row now at Morphettville

Think Winx tried to kiss Bowman back then!

Werent those colors on the jockey on Shraaoh belonging to the Darren Weir stable?

I'm guessing the connections might have kept the colours for luck Wadda

A lot of the Weir horses have won since his suspension ... hard to know how many as the form guide for any of his former horses doesn't mention the former trainer.  But it's quite a number.

Ok thats interesting. So if i see a horse racing in those colors then i can assume its a horse from the trainer formally known as....

Tbh, i thought they might have suspended the colors as well....

Interesting development

David Gately has joined the Sky team so we won't see him on the racing channel from here on in.

Still posts his tips up on Best Bets and today,  the racing channel no longer refers to Gators tips - instead they are calling them the Best bets tips.

JJ got me a good place there with his top pick Sizzleme in the 7th in Adelaide paid well for the place which i have anchoring a football multi. I like to cross sports.

Thanks for the JJ tips Macca. It was a bit of a hard day today, but was great to see WinX. We were privileged to see such a great horse in our time.

I imagine DZ is getting the paint out of his ears by now. See you all over on Monkey later.

There was a bet placed on Winx 550,000 to win 33,000........ok who was it? DZ.....?

Haha Wadda, lol, if I had half a mil spare I’d build us our own social club to enjoy MFC wins. I did manage to sneak my phone down to the trenches to watch the race.  Winx fantastic once again. What more can you say?

Hope you fellas had some luck today.

We went 0 for 4 today with our tips DZ which we've never done ... it was just one of those days but my punting strategy always includes a few bets at Sha Tin on a Sunday and a Saturday overnight double or 2 out of the feature events from the UK & Ireland.  Small outlays can deliver good outcomes if luck is on your side.

Apart from a number of obvious standout winners,  we saw a number of very good each-way chances or roughies finish 1st or 2nd ... more so at Randwick & Caulfield.  So if you got a collect or 2 from the exotics,  the dividends were quite good.

I'll post here occasionally during the off-season (May thru to September) but am going to be very busy at work for the next 2 or 3 months anyway ... may not do a best bet as I'm not sure I'll have the time to identify a standout.

But all the best if you're having a dabble!

Now having said what i said previously 1 more surely couldnt hurt. There are some very good races this Saturday. Some of the stars going around inc. Divanation out of Makbe Diva and All too Hard first start at 2000, Osbourne Bulls and Thrillster returns to Caulfield after a spell.

Best Bet:

Randwick Race 7 No 2 Osbourne Bulls $2.60

really cant resist Ozzie in this field, has come in from 3.40 earlier in the week

If I get a chance I'll throw in a best bet but might be lunchtime Saturday Wadda ... got a lot on right now

OB should win ... looks a good thing and the extra 200m suits well.

Quite like Nights Watch Macca. I was lucky enough to see the original Rembrandt in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam last year. It is a seriously huge massive painting and of course stunning.

Good luck with our picks!

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
