There are any number of feature races right across Australia on the weekend ... 3 x Group 1's,  4 x Group 2's,  4 x Group 3's & 7 x Listed Races.  The majority of the Black-type races are at Flemington & Randwick but Morphettville,  Ascot & Doomben also have their own feature races.

Winx runs around again in the Chipping Norton whilst the Australian Guineas,  Surround Stakes,  Blamey Stakes & Guy Walter Stakes are also standout races with quality fields throughout.

Racenet Form Guide

Best Bet:

Randwick Race 3 No 3 Microphone    $3.10

Will come in.....get on.

Best Bet

Randwick Race 7 Number 12

Pohutukawa $4.80 W $2.00 P

Picking it to win, place value is good also for a place multi.

The winning post not delivered to my newsagent this morning.  Very frustrating as it means I cant do my form on the train.

Will have to get one somewhere and do on way home (and at home).

A reminder races at flemington start early tomorrow because of heat.

Interesting running double at Randwick, r2 no 10 Looks Like Elvis into R3 Microphone.....just sayin.

Johannes Vermeer 3.60 and 1.55fav and first start since 2nd in the 2017 Melbourne Cup. Thats a very long break. Anyone know what race hes being aimed at this prep?

The All Star Mile if Johannes Vermeer wins tomorrow?  Probably gets a wild-card if so.  Apparently the horse is ready-to-go and is being well supported Wadda.  Gets in extra well in the weights tomorrow and is a Group level performer.  I was tempted to make it my best bet but have it included the horse in an exacta instead.

Otherwise the horse would be aimed at a possible quick back-up in The Australian Cup next week or perhaps the Ranvet (2000m Group 1) at Rosehill in late March (23rd) ... and then the 2000m QEII Stakes (Winx) or the $2Million Sydney Cup (run on the same day - April 13th)

Got my copy alright BM ... my local newsagent shut down a little while ago as is the growing trend so now have to go elsewhere.  I have a connection to the managing editor of WP as I played cricket with his brother for quite some time.

Still a great publication but I especially like the feature articles including the overseas write-ups.  The 'Backtrack' section is fascinating too ... not included of late though for some reason.

Ok Macca, so seems a few options there.  Thanks for the heads up. Dr Turf mentioned Johannes and Material Man as the quinella barring an earthquake as long as Johannes is ready to go. Think i will have a little nibble at that.

Speaking of quinellas, do we know what the Winx/Happy Clapper quinella is paying yet? Gotta be 1.50 doesnt it???

Best Bets:

Flemington Race 8 No.1  Extra Brut $4.80 (Place)

Randwick R7 No 12 Pohutukawa $4.80 (Win)

Randwick Race 3 No 3 Microphone (Win)   $3.10

Some excellent selections there from the team.......Ok, so .....any drunken fool (which is what i am atm) can work out.....that give or take....... its roughly around 70/1 and a trip to Greece if your really keen..... . (provided they finish in the order predicted of course)..................... (hence A Day at the Races Management (ADRM) take all care, but no responsibility for punting on a very hot day). Good Luck to all and Lets Go Dees.

Interesting day. I'm playing flemington for somewhere between a leaders bunn and suit on  pace  and made my selections accordingly. If I get that right I'm confident of a big day.

My best is she's so high. Race 3 no 7 flemington. Will be too good for a small field and good value at 2.25 fixed atm

@binman back with a bang, good picking mate. She was way too good.

An omen bet if I’ve ever seen one today, Haames wins the first at Sydney, it was Number 7 but did jump out of barrier 4.

It feels like the late afternoon with the races at Flemington ... just gone 1.00pm and we're heading into race 6 already.

Just got back from being out and watched all the races ii missed.

Flemington looks like it is fair to all. No real leaders bias which is good for the racing, not so good for my selections.

Marked Mr quickie but went with a leader Mr Ash (should have had a saver)/

Impressive win by Schabau. The oz stayers cannot hold a candle to the Europeans. Areal worry and i can't see it improving any time soon.

Good win by She's so high. good price too, starting at 2.30.

2 from 2!

Team 'ADATR' well in front at half time

Same as last week ... got the 'saver' winner and also got the exacta but the team misses on 'Extra Brut'  - I'm picking the team says ugh and sighs.

Could have gone for a shortie and that would have been 'She's so High' in race 3 so may re-evaluate my pick going forward.

What has been really noticeable today is the drifting in the market by horses that were previously at the top of the market ... I've got a few winners up but I've missed on the odds.

All good Macca......that was a tough race on a tough day i guess......

We got a few picks up, so good day

Winx up next. Do we go for the quinella?

Why is Winx never top wieght? WFA races??

For a moment there ... but in the end Winx ran a sizzling 01:33.27 and did it on the bit

Happy Clapper picks up a lazy $114k for the connections for what looked like a bit of a jog-around.  Unforgotten a fair way back to 3rd.

Yes i also thought......we are lucky to witness a horse like Winx.

Quinella paid $1.50

1 single bet of 280,000 on Winx placed at 1.09.

You would have had your heart in your mouth.

My pattern is often similar Wadda ... I usually come home strong.

I might just cut out the slow starts by cutting out the early stuff!  There's a thought ?

In other news you'd reckon that 'Mystic Journey' would get a run in the All Star Mile after winning the Guineas today and so might 'Fifty Stars'  ... Hartnell as well?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
