Great win to Mosh Music, making it 4 on the trot. He also saluted in the Demon red & blue.

Nice pick DZ.

G'day fellas. Way too late i know. I haven't been able to get on DL today. My best is once again Avilius. unbeaten in Sydney. Loves the heavy. The Oz cup was an aberation and will be too good. Short enough but still overs. Particularly on the tote as i suspect you will get close to easy money.

I really liked Mosh Music too, which i see DZ picked. very impressive win

Mr Sea Wolf gets up !

Well done Macca. Great selection there. Big plunge as it went to the gates too.

That makes all our Best up today with the exception of my scratching which was, as far as multis are concerned a good thing!

Avilius an easy win also.

I should get crook more often Wadda ... ended up taking the 2 best bets for the win in another multi so that's a nice collect considering I got $13 for the win on Mister Sea Wolf as well as $4.50 for Mosh Music.

Vaguely remember @binman throwing it into the trifecta that we used to do and it has a great record first up

Hope you blokes got similar collects

Cross Counter wins the 3200m Dubai World Cup in impressive style ... all the talk pre-race was about the horses' victory in the Melbourne Cup and how the Cup was such a great barometer.  All class was Cross Counter.

The talk now is l'arc de Triomphe for the horse which adds further to the lustre of the Melbourne Cup as a truly international race.

Some tremendous racing to come tonight including a few Aussie horses in the sprint (Brave Smash,  Viddora & Illustrious Lad)  Culminating in the Dubai Turf & the Dubai World Cup to close the meeting.

What an iconic race is the Doncaster Hcp.  Will class prevail (Hartnell,  Alizee,  Le Romain) or maybe a 3yo lightweight chance? (Brutal,  El Dorado Dreaming)  Land of Plenty,  Fifty Stars,  Shillelagh & Widgee Turf can't be ruled out either.

The exotics are sure to pay well even with the favoured horses getting into the finish.

Here is the field & form for the great race

Really like Widgee Turf @ 7.80 for the place or something. Sort of race youd love to see Winx in, but she would be carrying about 80kg.

How on earth can Shoals be $12 in the TJ Smith?

It is such a good horse and a proven performer on the big stage ... Ron Dufficy reckons it should be $5 but the horse always seems to way overs in the betting.

I agree, but it seems that Shoals does just that, a lot. Even when fav seems to get a good price. I really like the horse and it can spread wings. Will have a little flutter at those odds for sure.

Just went and visited the Eureka Center here in Ballarat. They have the original flag there, its quite awesome to see it. So big. Great museum, recommend.

I'll have to do the Eureka Centre one day - sounds really good.

And as for Shoals,  I will put together an exacta of some description which will have Shoals at the top along with 2 or 3 others.  And a couple more for 2nd.

With the race being as open as it is (along with the Sires Produce,  Doncaster Hcp & the Derby) the exotics are sure to pay well.  All 4 feature events are terrific betting races.

Really like your 'Microphone' pick and 'Alizee' is now sitting at $10.  That's got to be overs for such a classy performer.

You can get $6.50 for Microphone as well now so if our multi gets up we'll be swimming in it Wadda!

Best Bets:

Randwick Race 6 No 2 Microphone $5.50 (Win)

Randwick  Race 9 No.3  Alizee  $8.50 (Win)

Caulfield Race 9 No. 13 Thunder Cloud  $5.50 (Win)

This weeks multi is paying approx 257/1 + depending when and how you put it on. Good luck with that one gang and happy punting!

Eureka is well worth the 1 hour drive and you could possibly do the double and go to Sovereign Hill! Its a $6 entry and a small exhibition, but a lot to see. Always welcome for a beer on the front veranda at Wadda mansion after. Theres even an old shaft in the backyard!

Theres not a real lot in Micros race and hoping Bowman can get him in a good spot from gate 11. $6.50 is well......and Alizee is def overs as well and as combinations in wider exotics, all our picks are looking good. I even have a few selections going into the Dees, so heres hoping....

The classy horses have a habit of getting into the finish in the big handicaps.  And Alizee might be giving weight away but it is not carrying any more weight than it normally does - and it runs quick too ... especially over the mile.  I'm expecting Hartnell,  Le Romain & Shillelagh to run bold races too.  All those horses have the class.

Microphone looks a good bet and I had it marked on top before you put forward your tip Wadda ... and DZ's choice 'Thunder Cloud' is another that I had a small win bet on as 'Gator' has it marked on top.

To sum up - very comfortable with our 3 picks and I've already taken the early double (Microphone & Alizee) as well as the treble.  And we are coming off a nice collect on Monday morning.  Fingers crossed!

Well that totally sucked last night. What the hell has happened to our backline. Might just have to do some meditation to forget football exists for a while. Thank god the Ashes is on this year.

We just looked undermanned Wadda ... we need our best players available and playing well and we're a long way short of that.  So if you work from the results backwards there's your logical explanation.  We'll come good at some stage,  all's not lost.  Expectations are/were through the roof though so thus the angst & frustration.

But my motto has always been - you win games with your good players available & playing well otherwise you're highly likely to lose.  This sort of reminds me of 1995 - 1997 when we had all those injuries to our best players.  Talent wins mate - there's nothing surer.

Again,  at some stage we'll come good but unless that happens in the not too distant future,  finals are a stretch.  I reckon we'll win at least 10 games from the next 19.  I've already come to terms with our season.  But there again,  I'm a realist and like acting in a practical manner.

Anyway,  let's see if we can snag some winners to bring a bit of joy!

Edit:  Just got the first winner at Randwick (Bivouac) thanks to Brad Davidson's Racing Service ... so there's a good start Wadda!

A winner already, well done!

Yes i came to terms with it last week also i think. I totally agree with you Macca. I have already posted 2 or 3 times thats it like the 90s, 1 year on 1 year off, of course to no avail. Thats ok im happy to ride it out and see what we can revamp for the rest of the season. Some wholesale changes will be made for next year i am sure of that. I think making Max captain would be a good start. A bit harsh, maybe, but hes the only natural leader we have apart from Lewis who wont be around.

I hope DZ got out of there alive.

Anyway, i digress. I sense a good day coming up. Lets have a chat about some exotics in some of the main races. Im very interested in that today.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
